I walked out of the flood of paparazzi, with my arm wrapped around Lauren. It was a few days before the VMA's, and we decided to finally take action instead of staying on the tour bus, watching Frozen and stuff.
"I didn't actually think we'd run into paps here." Lauren laughed, walking out of the mall that was surprisingly close to the arena.
"It's world famous." I stated, reading the sign in front of the building.
"That's hard to believe." Lauren commented, continuing to walk out to the parking lot to the car we came in, the paparazzi still on our tails.
She turned around, "Can I drive this time?"
I rolled my eyes, "No, you cannot drive. I am going to drive, I'm the guy here."
"That's sexist."
"No, it's not!"
"Why won't you let me drive?"
"Because you didn't drive last time."
"Because you didn't let me."
I responded bluntly, "Just get in."
She put her hands up on defense, rolling her eyes with a tint of sarcasm in the deep green. I unlocked it, and got in, Lauren doing the same. Everything seemed to be silent after we locked out the outside world. She pulled out her phone as I started the car.
Finally, she said slowly, "We're nominated for the same award."
"That's cool." I grinned, "What is it?"
"Song of the year, or something like that." She said, putting her phone back into her pocket. "#WorthItVMA and #ShesKindaHotVMA is trending, that's all I know, no idea what award it's for."
"Are we up against each other for anything else?" I beamed, hoping to see if we could have any friendly competition.
"Don't think so, but it looks like this one award is causing enough drama." She answered, "And not the good kind either."
"Oh, what's happening?"
She pursed her lips in a thin line. "See for yourself."
"I can't do that while driving."
"Then do it later." She shrugged. "But, I think we need to do this more often. They still hate each other, the way dogs hate cats."
I agreed, "Yeah okay. When?"
"Are you going to the show?"
"The VMA's?"
"Yeah?"
"No, I think we have a show that night."
She stayed silent for a moment. Her perfectly done lips pursed together, index finger brushing her chin. "Then after the award show, the next night. With Camila and Calum."
She continued, "We need as much publicity as we can get."
