dating a criminal is on hold until this book ends
The ride back to the arena included nothing but the sounds of their breathing. It was just like before. Silent. Luke couldn't help but check on Lauren every couple of minutes.
He felt powerless. The first thing Luke did when Lauren said goodbye, was check her wrists. And he wished that he didn't. She threw her arms to her chest violently.
It was too late.
He saw the cuts.
"Let's just go." Lauren said quietly. Luke complied, directing her to the car. He knew it wasn't right to ask. No one wanted to explain why. No one wanted to confess. It was reliving the pain, and that's only going to make it worse.
"We're here." Luke announced, running to the side of the car to open the door for her. Unknowingly, she opens the door just as he gets there.
She cracks up laughing, Luke falls back and yelps, "Ow!" Then she stopped laughing, helping him back onto his feet. Luke liked her laughing, he loved her smile.
"Thanks." Luke smiled.
"Anytime." Lauren replied, avoiding eye contact. They walk to the arena, opening the door and entering the building.
Camila was worriedly pacing back and forth, Calum and Michael tried to soothe her only to get her farther down the arena, away from them. Lauren was Camila's best friend. She could only worry about the outcome of this situation, out of the many outcomes she thought of the worst.
Calum and Michael? They weren't worried at all. They sent Luke out to find her, after Camila's panic attacks and breathy explanations.
They even made a bet.
Calum bet $20 that they'd would come back within thirty minutes, which he seemed to be relieved that he had won.
Michael on the other hand, bet $30 that Lauren and Luke come back the next morning. From a hotel room, you can make out the rest. He sighed, handing the Maori boy six $5 bills out of his wallet.
Camila flung her arms around her friend, yelling out, "You're alive!"
Lauren responded with a laugh, patting her Cuban friend lightly on the shoulder. Luke stood back awkwardly, fidgeting with his shirt collar.
"I told you she wasn't dead!" Calum shouted behind the three, directing his voice toward Camila.
Lauren raised her eyebrow. She halted from the hug, facing the two, then asking, "How much did I miss? Since when were you two on good terms?"
Calum only shrugged, saying, "Who said we were?"
"Touché." Lauren replied. Luke's smile grew. We're all on good terms now, eh? he thought to himself. His eyes averted to the necklace, the oh-so familiar necklace, that hung from her neck.
He focused on her smile, wondering if she was faking it or not. He wondered if she was always faking a smile, then his thoughts wandered elsewhere, had she always had those cuts? Luke recalled her wearing long-sleeves even in the hottest weather, and the seeming to be endless amount of bracelets that clung to her wrists.
". . So yeah, Calum gave me twenty bucks, and now we're on good terms." Camila's voice interrupted, followed by Lauren's beautiful laugh.
That laugh, Luke thought. That laugh's more of a drug than anything else.
He waited, patiently, until he could talk to Lauren alone.
Not just talk about what they did before. When they'd go out with the other couple, or how much paps they thought would be there.
No, talk. Have a conversation. Know her. Not just her favorite color, her favorite food, no. Just like she said before, something you can't find online. He didn't want this to be just a stunt. Some game that you just got bored of. He didn't want to say goodbye. He didn't want her to walk away again. He couldn't stand the months they were apart.
God, he missed her so much.
"Hey, Luke, you alright there, mate?" Michael coughed loudly, awaking him from his trace. The raven haired lad snickered, seeing the blonde Aussie jump back a bit and look up in surprise.
Lauren and Luke locked eyes, just for a second. She immediately stared back at something else, anything else. Pity, she hated it. That's all Luke feels, she told herself, pity he feels sorry for you.
Calum's phone rang, interrupting the sudden silence. Drown, for it once one of his favorite songs at the moment, by BMTH played loudly, the music echoed. He looked at the caller ID for a nanosecond, before immediately pressing the red button signaling no. He then angrily stomped out of the room, no words leaving his mouth.
". . . I-Is he okay?" Lauren asks, almost flinching hearing the dressing room door slam closed.
Camila, for a second, followed the tanned boy. Then stepped back suddenly, her eyes flickering elsewhere. Luke stared at her, the girl who seemed to be wonderfully worried about someone she hated just this morning.
"Camz, you alright?" Lauren asked, reaching out to comfort her, but Camila walked out of the room quickly, not after Calum, but somewhere else.
Michael was the first to speak up, "What the fuck was that?"
The door opened behind us, revealing the same friends they'd known for about three years. Jade, and Perrie. All their eyes widened in delight, and they began to become distraught in the meet and greet between the five.
:-) dat's all for now!

Fanfiction"We'll do it." Those three words triggered the start of this entire adventure. It's amazing how those three words meant so much to this. Why Luke agreed? Beats me. Did I take anyone's advice? No one gave me any.
