Things are about to get so crazy...........
"I'm telling you, Mo," Russell coaxed me through the phone, his voice calm and collected. "Give it a week. The tabloids will leave you and I alone. It seems crazy now, but it'll chill out, I promise." Russell and I had now been together for three months. Which is something I never would have imagined. Things had been going smoothly, up until this week when Russell came out to confirm we were together in an interview after the Lakers game, sending the world of celebrity crazed people into turmoil.
"Russ, people are standing in front of my sister's house," I reminded him, saying this again for the thirteenth time since we had been on the phone. "None of this happened when Sean and I started dating."
"That's because I'm different," He said into the phone, and I could tell he was smiling. "A good different. I promise you when I get home I'll save you. Maybe punch a guy, break a camera if I have too."
"No, no, that'll make everything worse," I retorted, flipping down onto the bed. "I've been watching your games. I kind of know what's going on but not sure. It took me a Google search and three games to understand that each basket is worth two points." He laughed hysterically when I said that and I laughed too.
"But a foul shot is one point and if it's outside the arch, it's worth three points," He educated me. I gasped. It all made sense now.
"Oh... That really does explain a lot, thanks," We both laughed again as I rubbed my hands up and down my legs, trying to get warm. "When are you coming back? I miss you."
"I'll be home tomorrow, let's throw a party," He exaggerated.
"A party in my pants," I teased, laughing.
He groaned. "Please don't tease me, I've been such a good boy lately."
"You know," I slurred, biting my lip, trying to imagine what would happen if Russell was here right now. I missed him so much. "Good boys really do deserve to get awarded..."
"Mo, stop," Russell warned, which made me groan and roll my eyes. Russell was right, he was being a really good boy and I originally thought it was a great idea. Then, I realized it was terrible and torture. I couldn't forget the way he touched me, the way he kissed me, I wanted it again. And I wanted it a lot. "I told you, I want to take my time. But you'll get it soon enough. Just watching you the other night cook in your underwear really had me going..."
"Then why didn't you do something!" I shouted at him, laughing into the phone.
"Because..." He trailed off. I could tell he was smiling and I could imagine him smiling at me right now, which sent a pain through my heart. "I'm in Denver right now and I swear this is the worst city in the US."
"At least you can smoke weed legally," I pointed out, smiling.
"I wish I could," He said and I believed him. "But if the NBA found out, I would be fined at least one hundred thousand bucks."
I whistled under my breath and shook my head, "That's crazy. That really is."
There was a silence that crept between us over the line. "When are you going home?" The idea hadn't even occurred to me. When I went back home. I knew I was. There was no way I was staying in Oklahoma. I wanted to be with Russell, I really did, but I was torn. I also hated when he brought it up. I didn't want to think about Russell and I's fate after things between us were going so well.
"Probably not for awhile, so we don't have to discuss it," I tried not to snap, but I did. The thought of me being separated from Russell all the time didn't settle with me. "Tomorrow is never promised, so let's just cherish today and talk about it when the time comes."
