"It was her, Russell, I promise you," I told Russell, forcing my earrings through the hole in my ear. I could barely see into the mirror. Maybe my eyesight was starting to fail on me. A lot of things were starting to fail on me.

"You're just traumatized, baby," Russ accused from the bed. He had a calm tone, but that irritated me even more. Why didn't he believe me? I wasn't traumatized. He and Desiree were more traumatized than I was. "But I can understand that."

"You were there when that woman in the lobby told us she had a visitor earlier that day at five, didn't you?" I snapped, raising my hands in the air with frustration.

"Out of everything that happened that night, that would be the last thing I would be able to remember," He told me. I rolled my eyes and folded my arms across my chest. Why was he being like this? Why was he being so stubborn and most importantly, why was he acting like I was batshit crazy? "Maybe I do remember her saying that, maybe I don't."

"Can you just listen to me for one damn minute?" I snapped. I didn't mean to catch a rude tone with Russ, but he was being mean and inconsiderate.

"No, no, Mo! I don't want to fucking listen to you for one damn minute!" He raised his voice. I was taken aback by his tone. I knew he was still sensitive about the topic, just not this sensitive and touchy. It shocked me. "I want to forget that night, everything about it. You can call me a damn baby or whatever you want, maybe you are fine with seeing a person hanging by their neck from a rope, but I am not! Okay? So just leave it alone!" I stood there for a few moments filled with anger, before walking out of the bedroom and away from Russell. "Mo, come back here!"

I kept walking down the stairs, ignoring his calls. I had to talk to someone about this, I had too. There were only two choices. I could tell Desiree about what I had discovered, or I could confront my mother. My father would not be a good option at the moment, he was already suffering a major loss, and he wasn't taking it well. Telling him I had suspicions my mother and his wife of so many decades murdered his mistress, whom he presumably loved, was not a good idea. At all. However, consulting Desiree was not a grand plan, either. She had a very close relationship with my mother and that would completely ruin it for her. If my mother didn't do it and Desiree accused her... I could live with my mother being pissed at me, but I couldn't live with my mother being pissed at Desiree. Desiree couldn't live with it, either.

"Monica, you can talk to me, you always can, I'm sorry," He grabbed my wrist and tried to force me to look at him, but I snatched my wrist before he got a good enough grip.

"I don't want to talk to you," I snapped, coldly. I didn't care about what Russell had to say now. If he didn't want to be there for me now, I didn't need him. I had other ways to get my point across. Talking to my mother would shut this whole thing down. "So, go back upstairs and do whatever the hell you were doing. You don't want to remember it, I get it. But, I have to do something important, if you don't want to hear. Forget about it."

The guilt took over his whole entire face. It had been four nights since it had happened. Sure, I was shaken up about it too. Just not as much as Desiree, Russell and my father. I had different ways of dealing with things than they did. "Monica, you're okay with what we saw that night for some sick reason. The rest of us... we are mourning. I didn't even know the girl... but, what we saw? No one should have to see. That was terrible. I thought you would understand that I didn't want to think about it anymore."

"You can try and forget, Russ, but you never will! I promise you, you never will," I stood my ground on this one. Russell was not going to tell me what I could and could not talk about. And, of course, I knew I was crossing many, many boundaries. "For the damn record, nobody ever said I was okay with what I saw. So don't make accusations, alright? I'm not okay with what I saw. But I am okay."
