~Jack Frost, a year later~
It was winter once again. Tomorrow would be December twenty-first, marking a full year of knowing Elsa, and staying in Arendelle. It had been the best year of my life.
Eugene and Rapunzel had stayed, giving me someone to fully confess everything to. I had met them at the small pond outside Arendelle's wonderful castle every single day, after Elsa's incident. Now, she was a strong, beautiful queen. And right by her side was Anna.
Anna couldn't see me either, but that didn't mean I didn't have fun with her. We both had a love for pranking. Every now and then, I would freeze her reindeer slippers, and she would lock some of the windows of the castle for a few hours, preventing me from watching her sister's every move.
I had practically moved in. Elsa's suite of the palace was mine to explore, and I wasn't as bored as I used to be. Life was great. Somewhat.
The only thing that darkened my days was Elsa's disbelief in me. I had tried everything to get her to see me. I had wrote on the windows, made stuff move around the room, even tried to get Rapunzel and Eugene to reach out to her. But no matter what I tried, it was hopeless.
While Eugene helped Punzie up onto the lowest tree branch close to the pond, I sat on the small, frozen lake. My eyes went to the sky, a bright, brilliant blue like the gleam of Elsa's eyes. I sighed and watched as my frost spread over the grass.
"You're sulking again." Rapunzel muttered. I glanced up at her, watching her concern twist her facial features. "You've been doing that often now."
Eugene crossed his arms. "Are you actually..depressed?"
I shot up and almost slipped on my own ice, "Are you kidding? I'm as happy as I could ever be! I have a home and family and...and.."
"And Elsa still can't see you."
I sat back down and traced the designs of frozen water with my fingers. "I've tried everything and yet...she still doesn't believe in me. I don't know what else to do."
The couple exchanged worried looks. "Well, um, there's..."
Just as their gazes shifted to the ground, Anna came running out into the clearing. "Guys! We have visitors! Come on, they're waiting and they're cool!" She grabbed Punzie by the arm as the pair hyped up with excitement. They ran off as Eugene lingered for a minute, his eyes on me.
"Aren't you going?"
"Not without you, Frost."
"That's cute."
He threw up his hands in the air, exasperated. "Oh come on! You can't let a girl get you down! That's like, the worst thing in history! Like Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis!"
"I'm surprised you know France."
"Well, duh. I stole way too many items to forget them. Talk about non-happy campers...but on the bright side, Punzie's ring was free. You never heard that."
"Sure."
Eugene's look became pitiful. "Look, I know what it's like to have...women issues. There was a time when I ruined my first date with Punzie by meeting some old salesmen, and they kinda..tied me to a boat.. and it looked like I left her. Then her mother impaled me, thank god the new one is nicer. And–"
He paused as my eyebrow twitched. "Eh..maybe now's not the right time. Come on sad eyes, you know she'll be there and you can't resist it!" He walked away with his back facing me, his posture relaxed and proud. I rolled my eyes, but reluctantly followed.
