Can't Help Falling In Love

Chapter Seventeen

Theo's POV

My worst nightmare.

It came true.

I lost her.

I lost the love of my life.

Over something so stupid!

And I let her slip away.

I promised her.

I promised I would never let this happen.

I broke my promise.

And now,

She's gone.

Shai's POV

I look around the room and notice I am not at home. Theo is not lying beside me with his arm draped across my chest.

A sudden chill runs down my spine as the memories of last night flood back into my brain.

"You know what? Maybe this relationship was never a good idea!!!"

"I agree!" He snaps back.

"FINE!" I yell.

"Fine!"

I stomp out of the apartment and let the door slam behind me.

I have no idea where I am going but I just keep walking. Before I know I am in my car, driving as fast as I can.

'Total Eclipse of the Heart' by Bonnie Tyler is playing loud on the radio.

"Once upon a time
I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart.

There's nothing I can do,

I sing along through the sobs escaping my mouth. The tears are pouring out in buckets.

A huge white light grows larger and larger. It gets closer and closer until all I can see is darkness.

I realize where I am.

The hospital.

I look around my room. The walls are a dull brown while the floor is the brightest white I have ever seen.

My right leg is in a large black boot. I try to move my hand but pain shoots up through my arm. I look down and see a large line of black stitches along my wrist.

A nurse walks in abruptly. She is quite short, has a darker skin tone, and short brown hair.

"Oh gosh your awake!" She says.

"Yeah." My voice comes out scratchy.

"I'm Doctor Bailey." She smiles. "Would you mind if I told your husband you were up?"

"No please do." I said.

"Alright. I will be right back with a few other doctors so we can make sure your okay."

She walks out of the room. My eyes start to close as I hear the door open again.

"Shai?" Theo whispers.
