Shai's POV
"I'm so excited," I exclaim. "I still can not believe this is happening!"
"I know right?" Zoë hollers from the back seat. "I feel like I have been waiting for this my whole life!"
Zoë, Julia, Jessica, Lauren and I are going to be fitted for dresses today. Jess and Lauren flew in last night and are leaving two days from now. My mother also flew in and she is staying for today and is leaving tomorrow. We are meeting her at the store.
"So," says Julia. "What colors are we looking for?"
"Well," I begin. "Theo and I decided on you guys wearing dark purple dresses. And the men are going to wear gray suits with a purple tie to match. Obviously I'll wear white and heals and all that. And the is gonna wear a black tux and a purple tie."
"Ooooooh," everyone says.
I smile.
"Purple," says Jessica. "I like it."
"Yeah," calls Lauren. "Very chic."
I drive the car into the parking lot of the bridal shop. My mom is standing near the door waiting for us. I hop out and hug her right away.
"I missed you," I said.
"Me too," she said. "Even though its only been a week!"
I smile and we head into the shop. Hundreds of beautiful dress fill the store. Three quarters is filled with mesmerizing white gowns, while the other quarter has dresses of every color imaginable.
"Let's get shopping!" Julia calls.
I laugh and start to browse. There are so many gorgeous dresses, I don't know where to start. Less than one minute after we walked in all the girls come back with tons of dresses.
"Try these!" They all say.
My mother is still browsing but I tell her we are going to try stuff on. She decides to come after picking up one dress she insisted in me trying.
I get to the fitting rooms and I make all the girls hold the gowns. I grab one at a time. At first nothing really stand out from the rest. Eventually I go through every dress and I still have found nothing.
"Ugggh," I say coming out in the last dress. "I don't like this one either!"
"Calm down," my mother says. "You still have one more."
She holds up the dress she picked out. It is beautiful. The top is Lacey and there is a beaded waist band. The skirt is float and has lace on it as well.
I sigh and bring it into the dressing room.
"I'm Never gonna find one," I mutter. "Stupid dresses. Why do you even have to dress up for weddings? Why not jeans and a tshirt? I mean it's pretty much the same as everyday except your marrying someone. I would totally-"
I freeze as I look at myself in the mirror. Immediately I know this is the one. It's gorgeous.
"I think we found the one." I hear Julia whisper.
I walk out and everyone's hand fly up to their mouths. A tear runs down my face as I look at myself in the huge mirror next to the couch where everyone is sitting.
"I love it," I whisper.
"Shailene," my mother smiles. "You look stunning."
I smile and we both wipe away our tears.
"Theo's gonna die when he sees you in this!" Lauren exclaims.
"Oh my gosh!" Zoë nearly screams.
"I'll take it!" I tell a sales lady nearby.
"Okay," she says replies. "What size would you like?"
"Whatever this is, it's fine." I say.
"Okay," she replies. "As long as you pay for it all today then you can take it home."
"Great!" I smile.
"Yay!!" Jessica says.
"Oh my gosh." I whisper. "This is actually happening."
I sit on the couch, and lie back.
"I'm actually getting married." I say stunned.
"My baby's getting married." My mother cries.
"Let me get changed and then we'll look at bridesmaids dresses." I say, wiping my final tears away.
I go into the dressing room and take one final look at myself before unzipping and putting my regular clothes back on.
When I'm done I carefully bring the dress out and have the lady wrap it up. While we wait I check out the bridesmaid dresses.
After about thirty minutes I see on walk I really like, but it's in red. Hopefully it comes in the color I want.
I pick it up and tell everyone to take their size. The saleswoman comes over, right on time, and I ask her what colors the dresses come in.
"Red, White, Black, Light Blue, Dark Blue, Lilac, Indigo, and Gray." She replies.
"Great could I see a picture or something of the purple one?" I ask.
"Yeah," she nods. "Actually this is the color."
She holds up a different dress, but it's the exact color I need!
"Yes!" I exclaim. "That's the perfect color. We'll have it in whatever sizes they need."
Zoë, Julia, Jessica, and Lauren go into the fitting rooms and try on their dresses. They look even better on the girls.
Once they finish the sales lady records their sizes and I pay.
I can't believe it. I think. I'm actually getting married!
