Greetings, Ink Jars, Professor Lewis here. The title of todays paper explains it all. I haven't written to you in a while, and there's a reason. I've been experiencing the worst Writer's Block I have ever met! Writing anything is a struggle! Even these few sentences come slowly, each with thought. It's all very un-thoughtful and flat. Everything I write (if I can write anything at all) sucks. I rarely use that word, but it entirely fits my situation. So how am I dealing with it (not well to be honest)? Why did it happen?

1.) Why did it happen? I overworked myself. I was re-writing a book and had plotted every piece of it! By the time I reached my favorite parts (the end, the climax, the part where you tear your reader's heart out) I was bored. SO BORED! I knew exactly what was going to happen which defeats the purpose of writing! Writing is a way to experience new things, INSPIRE yourself, take you places you've never been, widen your imagination! So what did I do? I went back and edited through a book I'd written a few years ago which I wanted to shine up. Did this help? A little--not really. Yes, it left me feeling like I had finally finished something, and parts of it inspired me, but oh I struggled to finish EDITING! I felt very overwhelmed. So I went back, finished the other book, and started re-writing another book...yeah, that flopped.

I'm telling you this so you can understand where I'm coming from. I wrote a chapter on Writer's Block a while ago, but I've tried basically everything on the list! I've taken a break, I've looked at pictures of landscape an characters and art, I've read books, I've watched movies, I've listened to the same music, etc.! Nothing is working!

So what am I doing now? I'm switching gears. I'm writing a short story nothing like I have yet. When I wrote my short story The Shadow Vile (or Vile of Shadows) it really empowered me. It was quick. It gave me something I could get really invested in, not have to work too hard on, and something I could finish. I'm going to attempt this same tactic. Hopefully it will work! I miss writing. Honestly, it's my favorite activity, but lately its been seeming dull! I'm sure you've experienced the same thing. So, if you have any advice, comment, message me. If you want more Lewis-style stories, tell me your tips.

ALSO: Steve and I are planning to start a book club. If you are interesting in joining and promoting your own book, let us know.
