When he is sick

It's a sunny January afternoon.
You just finished university classes for today, what actually is very great, but unfortunately there is an upcoming exam, so you have to learn a lot. It's suprisingly warm for a winter day so you decide to walk home by foot.
After half an hour you reach the beautiful area of Amsterdam, where you and Martin just moved in some time ago. It's a more silent district, where you can enjoy some moments alone.

After reaching the 6th floor you head towards your door and take the keys out of your handbag. The door falls open and you enter your warm flat. As you want to make your way to the kitchen you almost trip over something. It's Martin's shoes.

Why are his shoes here? He should be in the Garrix lab now, you think to yourself.
Maybe he finished earlier today, even if this is not really usual of him.

After placing the heavy bag on the floor you start making your way to the kitchen.
To your surprise you find Martin lying on the couch in the living room. He seems to be half asleep, but as you step in the room his eyes immediately meet yours.
"Hey, babe.", his voice only comes out silent, sounding kind of hoarse.
Not only his voice tells you that something's wrong. You can feel it.
He could try to cover it up, but you would always understand what's going on.

"Hi, what's wrong?", you ask approaching him.
"I don't feel so well."
You sit down on the couch beside him, your eyes scanning him. He actually looks terribly pale and tired, not really surprising since he was getting little sleep lately and furthermore you've recently had a cold.
Carefully you put your hand on his forehead to feel his temperature.
"When did you come home?", you ask looking into his eyes.
"Maybe an hour ago."
"Did I wake you up?"
"No, not really.", he answers weakly.

While feeling his temperature you look into his blue eyes, they also behold you, what makes your heart skip a beat, but your feelings get interrupted as you feel that he's really hot.
"Martijn, you are having a fever. You should really get some rest.", you tell, gently stroking some strands of his brown hair away.
"Where are you going?", he asks you as you get up from the couch.
"I am going to get you some medicine and a blanket so that you can sleep a little bit. I'll be back in a minute."
You leave the living room and head to your bedroom, where you grab a fluffy blanket.
With the blanket in your hand you search for the medicine and make your way back again to the living room after getting everything.

"Drink this, it will help you.", you say, handing him a glass of water and a pill.
He swallows the medicine and rests his head on the pillow again. You take the glass and place it on the table next to the couch.
"How was university anyway?"
"Yeah, quite good.", you answer with a smile.
It's not really usual of him asking you about it, but it makes you happy. It's not that you don't talk a lot to each other, but lately you two have been very busy, so that you wouldn't have much time together.

"Do you want to know something?", he asks you.
"Yes, what is it?", you wonder tucking him in.   "I just finished the song."
"The one I heard in the lab?"
"Yup."
"That's great. Do you know what it will be called?"
"In the name of love."
"Awww, I bet your fans will love it."
"At least you like it, that's what counts.", he tells with a small smile and closes his eyes. "Okay, sleep a little bit.", you say planting a kiss on his forehead.
As you want to stand up you feel a grip around your arm.
You turn around to find him looking at you.
"Please stay, I don't want to be alone.", he pleads.

Awww, sometimes he can be so cute, you think. You should actually learn now, but he's got you. Once his innocent gaze meets your eyes, you can't say no anymore.

"Well okay, if it makes you feel better."
"You always make me feel better."
Again you take a seat on the couch, this time you lay down beside him, resting your head on his back.
"And now sleep.", you whisper.
"Can I hold your hand?", he asks reaching for your hand. You get a hold of his warm hand and intertwin your fingers with his.
First you just listen to his soft breathing, making sure that he fell asleep.
Gradually the silence and his breathing make you feel tired and your eyes fall shut every now and then.
He'll be alright, you reassure yourself and drift off to the wonderland of dreams.
