You and Martin have been a couple for 5 years. Things have been going well, you moved to Amsterdam, so you can spend much more time with Martin.
Recently you have been feeling weird, you would feel sick in the morning and everything would stink like hell to you.
One morning you felt so sick, that you had to throw up. This was the point you decided to get a pregnancy test.Your POV:
Please don't tell me that I am pregnant.
What if I am really pregnant?
How should I tell this to Martijn?Leaned against the bathtub you begin to count to 300, that's how long you have to wait to be able to see the result. Though you try to detract yourself from the pregnancy test, you can only think of that small thing of plastic in your hand. You've always wanted to have children, but you still don't feel ready to have a real family. So Martin doesn't.
Once you talked about children and starting a family, he said that he isn't ready for it yet."298, 299, 300...", you count silently.
As you reach the final number you close your eyes and take a deep breath.
A red plus on the pregnancy test instantly gives you the feeling that your whole world is falling apart. As expected you are pregnant. You tried to convince yourself that you are not pregnant, but in the depth of your heart you already knew it.How could this happen? I am on birth control, this can't be possible. Fuck, how should I tell this to Martijn? He will leave me, he told me that he doesn't want children yet.
Though you try to act strong, you break down in the end. You can't be really happy about the pregnancy, too much you fear that you won't be able to be a good mother.
After you have calmed a little bit down you decide to go outside, so that you can throw the pregnancy test away, somewhere far away from your home. While strolling around in the centre of Amsterdam you throw the proof of your pregnancy away.
Martijn can't find out, unless I tell something that would let him feel suspicious. The calm walk in the city centre clears your mind. The fresh air makes you feel much better, you even start feeling happy about getting a child, even though you still have no idea how to tell Martin about it.
On your way home you try to find a way how to convey to Martin your pregnancy.
Your heartbeat at its highest rate you open the door to be welcomed by laughters and somebody talking.Slowly you follow the sounds, which lead you to the living room. Arriving in the room you spot Martin and his friend Hanni, who recently became a father of a cute son.
"Hi Y/N.", Hanni greets you.
Martin turns around to look at you with a happy smile. As he turns around you find him holding Hanni's son in his arms."Y/N, look how cute he is.", Martin tells happily and approaches you.
Seeing Martin with the adorable baby makes your heart shatter into million pieces.
"Hanni/Son/N, say hi to Y/N.", Martin sings and carefully takes the baby's hand, waving towards you.
Before you can control your emotions, you feel your eyes watering with tears.
"Do you want to hold him?", Martin wonders.
Instead of giving him a response you start crying, but before anybody can notice it you quickly leave the room and make your way outside.Martin's POV:
"Okay?", I mutter, surprised about Y/N's reaction.
What has got into her?
Why did she start crying?
Weird. She hasn't cried for a long time. Everything was going great lately.
Maybe something terrible happened."Sorry 'bout that. I am going to see, if she's alright. Feel like at home.", I tell to Hanni and give him his son.
Thinking about a reason for Y/N's breakdown I make my way downstairs, where my neighbours spot me. Both stare at me confused, maybe they saw Y/N.Freezing wind greets me as I open the door.
Like a freak I walk around the house, searching for Y/N.
She must be here somewhere.
Reaching the parking lot my eyes finally discover Y/N sitting on the pavement.
Slowly I approach her, the closer I come the more audible her sobs get.Gently I pull her up to me and pull her in a tight hug, her sobs gradually fade away.
"What's wrong? Are you alright?", I ask scanning her.
"It's no-nothing.", she stutters and wipes her tears away.
"You can talk to me.", I reassure her, I see that something's bothering her.
"No, I can't.", she cries and looks away.
"Y/N, what the fuck. I am your boyfriend. Please tell me what's wrong.", I beg her and take her cold hands in mine.
In a moment of silence a sigh escapes her mouth.
"So?", I wonder raising a brow.
"Martijn...I-I am pregnant."
She's pregnant? But she's on birth control?Unbelieving about what she told me, I blankly stare at her. I simply can't say a single word, my feelings confuse me too much.
"See, that's why I didn't want to tell it!", she snaps and pulls out of my grip.
Before she manages to walk away I grab her by her hand and turn her around to look at me.
"Y/N, this is the best thing that could've happened to us.", I smile now.
I am going to be a dad."But you said, that you are not ready yet.", she mumbles staring at the ground.
"Hey, listen to me.", I start and place my hand on her chin, gently raising her head, so that her beautiful eyes meet mine.
"Yeah, I said that I don't feel ready, but together we'll figure it out. I promise you that everything's going to be alright.", I continue and plant a kiss on her forehead.
"Oh Martijn.", she whispers and hugs me.
"We'll make it together. I promise you.", I reassure her and close my eyes, already seeing this bright future.
