Christmas Special

Finally that time of the year is around the corner again. The time, when everybody is showing gratitude and enjoys spending time with their loved ones. To you it's always been the most beautiful time of the year.
After two weeks of being alone in Amsterdam, Martin is finally back from his short trip to the US. You are very happy that this year was going quite well for Martin and you. This is one more reason, why you are looking forward to spending the last few days of this year with him and your families.

*24th december, 6:34PM, Amsterdam*
Your POV:
"Okay, leave it here. This is good.", you instruct Martin, who is trying to find a good place for the christmas tree you just bought.
"Okay, I am going to get the ornament. We have to hurry up a little bit, Menno, Rob and the others are coming soon.", Martin says glancing at his phone and leaves the living room.
While waiting for Martin you grab the TV remote and look for a song, which would make it funnier to decorate the tree.
As Chris Brown's Loyal shows up on the screen you immediately know, that this is the song you want to listen to.
"Are you serious? Shouldn't we listen to some christmas songs while decorating the tree?", Martin laughs as he steps in the room with all those fancy ornaments you recently bought in a shopping mall.
"No please not, I can't hear them anymore. They're played all over the radio.", you respond smiling.
"Yeah okay, here one for you. Let's start.", he tells giving you a box.

Together you start hanging the ornament on the christmas tree, instead of listening to Last Christmas or All I want for christmas is you, you dance like fools to 24K Magic and Billie Jean. Your heart is filled with joy as you two decorate the tree together, it's been a while that you've spent time all by yourselves.
From time to time you miss those private moments with Martin and he knows it, but there is nothing that could tear you apart.
He simply means too much to you just to leave him. After 7 years of knowing him you can't imagine, what life would be like without him.

While Martin is putting a silver star on top of the tree you hear the doorbell ringing.
"I am going to open it.", you say and rush to the door. Opening it smiling faces immediately meet you, all of Martin's closest friends showed up. To your surprise they brought champagne and vine along, even some self-made christmas cookies.
"Wow guys, you really didn't have to do this.", you smile and walk with them to the living room.
"No no, we can't come without anything at all. This would be rude.", Menno explains.
"We just bought the christmas tree, so we haven't finished decorating it yet. I hope you don't mind.", you tell to your friends as you arrive in the living room, where you spot the silver star on top of the tree.
"No, that's fine. Just take your time.", Rob's girlfriend says smiling and places the cookies on the table.
While Martin greets his best friends you continue hanging the red christmas balls on the tree, you bought some days ago.
As you're about to take another ball your attention is caught by Martin, who calls your name.
"What is it?", you wonder turning around, to find Martin and his friends looking at you.
"Here, hang this one.", he says and shows you a sliver christmas ball, he is holding by its loop. Approaching Martin, you want to take the silver christmas ball he's holding, but instead of giving it to you he suddenly kneels down in front of you.
"Martijn, what's going on?", you give him a confused smile.
"Y/N, I wanted to do this already many times before, but I never really found the chance to make it perfectly. You only deserve the best, so I thought it's perfect now, since it's christmas and we are together and also our friends are here, so everybody can hear how much you mean to me.", he tries to explain and takes you by your hand.
A silent "awww" sounds in the background as Martin gets a hold of your hand.
At least now you can probably imagine what is about to happen, but still you cannot really believe it.
It feels more than a dream than reality.
"It's been 7 years ever since we met each other and I want to thank you for every single day. Every day with you is a gift, I am the happiest guy on this planet with you by my side. You've always been there for me, no matter, if it had been been good or bad times. You have become such an important part in my life, that I simply don't want to imagine living my life without you anymore.", he speaks and suddenly opens the christmas ball, which exposes a beautiful silver ring with a cute small diamond on it. Surprise and shock plays with your mind that makes you put your hands to your mouth, trying to hold in the tears that are forcing its way out.
"Y/N, I promise you to love you all my life, in good times as in bad. I promise you to be there for you and protect you from anybody, who wants to hurt you. I want to be the guy, who wakes up and falls asleep next to your smile. I want to be the man, who fills you with happiness and love, if you give me this one chance. Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?", he asks looking in the depth of your eyes, a small smile probably formed on his lips, because he can see that you are crying.
"Yes, Martijn. I will marry you.", you sob smiling, an even brighter smile meets you right now. You watch Martin taking your trembling hand in his one and slowly puts the beautiful ring on your finger. The excitement gradually fades as you feel Martin's hand holding yours. With the ring on your finger you pull Martin up to you and crush your lips against his ones, you can hear loud cheers in the background.

It has been a wonderful year with Martin, you couldn't imagine that it could get even better. You are engaged now to the man of your dreams. With him by your side, you can't be any happier. He's the man, who will always stay in your heart.
