You and Martin have been a couple for three years. You met when you both were 19.
Your relationship has always been quite harmonic, your friends always admired the way you treat each other.
Respect and trust were always put first, this made your bond become even stronger, even the hardest times couldn't tear you apart.

Lately things have been changing.
Martin's career as producer and Dj is on its climax, you are happy about his success, because you know that this was the goal he was always working towards.
Also your life has become busier, since it's your last year in college. There are only some big exams left until your graduation, as a determined person you want to pass all those exams with best possible grades.
Even though Martin and you try to spend as much time as possible together, your busy lives also have a negative effect on your relationship. Lately there have been weeks you hadn't seen each other at all, what, you feel, depresses the both of you.
You don't know, whether it's the happiness or just the closeness to each other, but you feel that it is an important part, that got lost in your search for success.

*Amsterdam, Friday, 10:15pm*
With a cup of coffee you snuggled in a blanket and read one of those 800 pages long books for university. 688, this is the page you just reached now, which means that there are 112 more pages left. You've always liked reading books, but when it comes to textbooks about economics you hardly find the motivation to read them. Since there is less than a month left until the exam you have to force yourself to finish it, no matter if you want to or not.
In the corner of your eye you find Martin sitting down on the couch next to you, placing his Macbook on his lap.
While your eyes follow the long confusing sentences, you catch Martin looking across to you every now and then, where his eyes remain for a while, but then wander back to the screen again.

"Y/N?", Martin asks you as you turn the page, wanting to continue reading the never ending chapter about the history of the european economy.
"What is it Martijn? Don't you see that I am reading?", you answer a little bit annoyed, you hate it when someone interrupts your focus.
"Nevermind.", he speaks, paying his attention to his producer laptop again.
And this is another thing you can't stand at all, when someone calls your attention, but in the end doesn't tell you the matter.
"What is it?! Now you can tell me, since you already interrupted me.", you counter close to lose your temper.
Instead of getting a response, a loud noise makes you jump up from the couch as Martin slams his Macbook shut.
"I won't tell you anything, if this is the way you're going to talk to me. I don't understand you, Y/N. I am trying to spend time with you, but you keep on ignoring me and believe me I can't stand this anylonger. Why do you even stay, if you don't want to spend time with me?", he snaps, anger evidently taking over his usual soft voice.
"You know that this is not true. Of course I want to spend time with you, it's just a little bit hard at the moment.", you try to explain as calm as possible while his cold, not reasoned words already hit you in your heart.
You know that you haven't spent a lot of time together lately, but to you it feels like Martin puts the whole blame on you.

"A little bit hard...if you don't love me anymore, why don't you go? I don't need that bullshit.", he asks you, his voice emotionless yet filled with anger.
"And I don't need that bullshit either, have you ever thought about me? How I feel when you're gone? I have never complained about being lonely.", you respond, this time you let your emotions take over.
"Well then it's better, if I just leave you alone now, if you don't need all that bullshit here!", Martin concludes and gets up.
"Where are you going? Don't you see that you're totally overreacting?", you run after him, following him to his home studio.
"I am sick of everything going on here! Just leave me alone.", he raises his voice as he turns around to look at you.
His grey clouded eyes pierce through you, this is his tipical expression when he's angry.
Over the years you've learned to read his expressions, the only difference is that this time he isn't angry at his friends or tour manager, this time it's you.
You are the reason for his anger.
Feeling this coldness towards you makes your heart cramp in the most uncomfortable way possible. Before you can even think about what to say the door falls shut, the loudness of the slamming door making you wince.
