Chapter 2: Yellow Poppies

Episode 2: Earthlings

Gotham City

January 5, 2016

Alejandra's P.O.V.

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I moved to the side to allow him entrance.

"Well to start off, hoping you were awake this early," D replied as he walked in, "And that I wouldn't be left holding a bucket of melting ice cream at the front of your apartment till you woke up." I rolled my eyes. If I went to sleep last night, I probably wouldn't be. Liz has been crying and trashing her room all night. She finally crashed ten minutes ago.

"And now?" I asked.

"I want to know what's going on?" He said as I shut the door, "Yesterday, you were completely out of it during the mission and it's not because you're-"

"I'm tired," I started at the same time as he finished with, "you're tired." He stepped up toward me and I felt my heart racing in my chest as he looked down at me. I hated how much taller he was to me now. His crystal blue eyes looked into mine as he slowly shook his head.

"Just be honest," He replied, "it wasn't because you were tired."

"How are you so sure?" I asked looking down trying to control the beating of my heart.

"well one, I know you," He said, "and two, Liz came by last night and she was acting pretty strange."

"What?" I said confused, "Why?"

"How about you tell me first?" He said holding up the bucket of ice cream.

"So you bought ice cream to bribe some info out of me?" I said narrowing my eyes and glared up at him.

"Not if it's not working," He replied. I snatched the ice cream bucket from him and walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bowl and grabbed the ice cream scooper. I began serving the plate. I licked the ice cream scooper when I was done and put it in the sink. I grabbed a spoon and put it in the bowl before I slid it across the counter toward him. He rose an eyebrow at me. "For me?"

"Well it's not for me," I replied rolling my eyes as I grabbed a spoon, "like I could ever manage to eat that little." I hugged the bucket to my chest.

"Yeah, well you usually never manage to share either," He replied.

"Just eat it," I muttered as I scooped up ice cream from my bucket and walked back out toward the living room. I sat in the center of the big couch bringing up my legs and folding them to the right side of me. D sat on my other side.

"If I tell you what's going on, you have to promise you will keep this between me and you," I said as I took a small bite of my ice cream.

"Okay," He replied.

"Did you hear about the shooting that happened at Metropolis Blue?" I asked. He frowned confused.

"There was a shooting at Metropolis Blue?" He questioned as he began to play with his watch to find an article or something on the shooting.

"You're wasting your time, the media didn't post anything," I replied, "and by the time the police were notified, the conflict was already resolved by Liz."

"It's strange that a school shooting didn't make the media," D frowned.

"Yeah, the school must have some pretty good connections," I replied.
