Chapter 16: The Tides are Rising.
Episode 9: Darkest

Liz's P.O.V.
The school day had ended and I had finally finished with the staff meeting. I had my stuff in hand as I walked toward the parking lot toward my car as my mind wandered. A frown permeated my face. It's been about three months that I've been under deep cover and I still haven't found anything about Metropolis Blue and the supposed Round Table.
Thanks to Dick's help, I was able to pose as a temporary substitute teacher at Metropolis Blue, but it's been three months and I have yet to find any hint or clue that this Round Table really even exists. But Cassie's desperate expression was practically engraved in my mind and I couldn't imagine it being lies. Especially considering this girl had a 4.0 and she only had one more year and she would have gotten an acceptance letter from any college she'd apply for instead of behind bars in Juvie right now. No, something had to be going on, but I wasn't going to get to the bottom of it on my own. Maybe, I needed a little more help. The students, no matter how much I encouraged them, didn't speak to me about anything. As a teacher I was getting nowhere, so maybe a student would be a different story.
I wonder if Wonder Girl would want to help me with that...but then again, that girl has a temper. Tim would be a good candidate, but the only one able to transfer him schools is out in space facing Trial. I wouldn't want him missing too much school anyway. I could ask Jaime...but I'm not exactly that close to him to be asking for personal favors. Garfield will stick out like a sore thumb. Why does that boy only transform into animals? Ugh... I don't know Bart all that well, but I could tell at first glance, that he's not much of a rule follower...but new girl is...
She's the perfect candidate. She doesn't go to school and she's very shy and quiet. She listens and does what you ask of her. She's the perfect spy for Metropolis Blue.
As long as she's fed with energy, she's safe enough to put in the school. I unlocked the car and hurried to get in. I needed to get to Mount Justice and see if she was interested. I turned on the car and was ready to go, until a thought hit me.
Connor might be there. We haven't had time to see each other since his birthday. I just wasn't sure seeing him without a cooling off period was such a good idea. The string was strengthening and I was the only one feeling the side effects. If I didn't jump ship soon, I might sink with it and I'm not sure I liked that idea. Well, it's not like I could avoid him the rest of my life and I didn't know of anything to sever a string either...
I guess I'd have to take my chances. If he was there, he was there, but I had to see Alice. She was the one I wanted to help me with this.
Alice's P.O.V.
"Um, is it really okay for us to be standing outside his front door in our costumes?" I asked as I ate my freeze pops that Bart had bribed me with. I didn't really want to come thinking that the reason I haven't seen Mystic was because she's been going to the Cave when I was out exploring. We were currently in front of Jaime's house.
"Ah, it's fine," Bart said as he rang the door bell.
"Dude, what are you doing?" I heard the shock and annoyance in Jaime's voice before I saw him.
"Here to hang, to chill, to spend a little down time with my buddy, Blue, B.B., the Beetle, Bee-tel!" Bart said so fast he was giving me whiplash, "you know chillanging!"
