"Savage doesn't think I recognize him, which means he won't try to kill me. He can't steal my powers before I've found them." Kendra explained to Rip, pacing the floor. Ray and Meg leaned against the wall, picking at the tuna surprise Savage had given them. Of course, they screened it for poisons and explosives first- but it just smelt so good they had to try it.
"Don't forget, we also have to figure out why he's killing the townsfolk." Ray said between mouthfuls of tuna surprise.
"Are you two seriously eating that?" Kendra asked. Meg shrugged her shoulders, fiddling with the fork between her fingers.
"Say what you want about Savage, but he makes one hell of a casserole." Ray defended. Meg nodded her head, eating another forkful of the warm casserole. How did Savage have time to cook when plotting to take over the world?
"I guess you can say he's pretty... savage... at cooking." Meg piped up. Ray suppressed a laugh, while Kendra just shook her head in amusement. The others just shook their heads, probably secretly amused or just disappointed that Meg made the horrible joke.
Well, with a name like Vandal Savage, who wouldn't make a joke like that?
"Yes, well, Snart and I have been analyzing these forensic files..." Rip trailed off, hands clasped behind his back.
"Which suggest nothing except Savage is very good about making people disappear." Snart finished, arms folded.
"Something you and Savage both have in common." Jax snapped. Meg bit her lip. The youngest member of the team had been worked up about Snart taking care of Mick after he betrayed us. Captain Cold said he froze the pyromaniac, but Meg refused to believe that even someone like Leonard would kill his best friend.
"Are we just gonna pretend like none of this happened? That Mick Rory wasn't apart of our team? If you froze your best friend over like that, I'd hate to think what you could do to us." Half of Firestorm finished with a pissed huff. Meg put her fork down with an annoyed sigh.
"Right now we need to stay focused on the mission." She started, "Rip, let me take a look at those files and see if I can find anything. Forensic Anthropologist, remember?" Margaret got up, fiddling with the ends of her red hair.
"Let me know right away if you find anything. Savage is going to be pretty busy at that party tonight. Whilst you two keep an eye on him, it gives Sara and Martin a chance to see what he's doing in the secret wing of his asylum." Rip said as he handed Meg a small stack of files.
"Shall we head to the party?" Kendra asked Ray, who took one last bite from the tuna surprise casserole. He nodded, and stood up, adjusting his collar.
Meg walked outside with them, her plan for the night to head back to their fake 'home' and see if she could deduce anything from the files.
"You sure you don't want to come with us to the party?" Ray asked Meg for the fifth time that evening. She knew he wanted her to go, but Meg wasn't one for large parties- plus she needed to look over the files. Meg adjusted her grip on the folders, blowing a lock of red hair from her face.
"I'll be fine, Ray, I promise. Please go have fun, and keep an eye out on Savage. I'll do what I do best and try to put this puzzle together." She nodded to the files. Ray chuckled softly, putting a hand on her back as he opened his mouth to speak.
"Well, you'd have been the most beautiful girl there." He whispered in her ear. Meg felt her cheeks grow hot as she couldn't help but grin. He sure knew what to say to make her smile.
