Chapter 16

It didn't take more than an hour to fly to Maricity and notice that there was literally a line of people waiting to get into the gym. Obviously, someone special was in there that everyone wanted a shot at.

We quickly returned our Pokemon and walked up to the opening. "Excuse me, I work here, let me through," was what I was saying trying to push through the tight crowd in the doorway. Everyone was shoving and up against each other just waiting for their turn. Luckily both Victoria and I shoved our way through the line and reached Albert who was standing off to the side as Maris was beginning to talk to another challenger. Strangely, there was no sight of any legendaries around.

"Hey Albert, what's going on?" I said motioning to the teeming crowd.

"Oh everyone's excited over the legendary we were given recently to give to 'anyone able to defeat the beast', or so we've been told," he said.

"Who told you that? And who is the legend?" I asked eagerly.

"A shadowed figure told us that. He said to be a part of the police force and showed us his badge. We just took the Pokeball and he was gone," Albert explained. "Oh, and its Kyogre. You can't see him right now because he is submerged in the deepest part of the lagoon. He should be up soon for the next fight."

"Albert, you probably don't know this, but the legends are in danger," I said. "All of the legends have been caught and given to the gyms in order to keep them and all the powerful trainers away from the situation at hand. Truly, a criminal organization has trapped the ancient Mew for some reason that we need to figure out."

"How do you know all of that?" Albert asked.

"Because, we spoke to some of them," I said as both Victoria and I pulled out our Pokeballs to show Albert Darkrai, Rayquaza, and Zapdos.

"No way! This... Th... Wow!" Albert said starstucked.

"Look, we need to gather up all of the legendaries and lead them to go save Mew," I said with determination in my eyes. "So we need to defeat all of the gyms we can in order to collect the legends. How can we get past this line and challenge Kyogre ourselves?"

"Well, lets talk to Maris and see if we can get you to challenge Kyogre," Albert said leading the way.

"Hey, Ryan! Hey, Victoria!" Maris said with a smile. "Pretty crazy day, right?"

"Hi, Maris," I said going straight to the point. "We need to challenge Kyogre."

"Well, I guess you can. Do you mind waiting a few minutes so that this guy can go?" Maris said. "He's been waiting the longest out of everyone here."

"Yeah, that's fine," I said receiving a small glance from Victoria. "He won't last long," I whispered to Victoria.

With a nod from her, Kyogre surfaced and the challenger sent out a decent Roserade hoping to poison him with a Toxic and then strike with a variety of grass moves. Kyogre made quick work of Roserade with a few Ice Beams. It wasn't too long before he was entirely defeated and it was our turn.

I stepped up and faced Kyogre. He took a deep look into my eyes and seemed to connect with me.

"You are different from the others," I heard a wise voice in my head that I took to be Kyogre. "You exude confidence without any pretension. May our fight be a glorious one."

"Go Rayquaza!" I said as the tower of light appeared as always revealing the monster in everyone's presence.

"SO MUCH FOR BEING SUTTLE AND SNEAKY," Rayquaza said as he peered at all of the onlookers. "KYOGRE, LONG TIME NO SEE!"
