Chapter 9
"I'm back to win this time, Albert and Maris!" The unknown guy said bursting through the doors.
The guy obviously has been in the gym a few times before, wearing some swim trunks that looked like it had blood splattered onto it. He had blonde hair and a slightly muscular body which he obviously accented by using a spray tan.
"Back for more, Jake? I thought you would have learned your lesson by now." Maris said to him like she was his superior.
"Yeah, yeah whatever Maris. I'm ready to take you and Albert on right now and claim that gym badge!" Jake said enthusiastically. "Let's do a double battle right now!"
"Ahem" I said stepping in front of Jake. "I'm the front of the line as of now. You have to battle me as well."
"Ryan, let me and Albert take him on first. If he beats us, then you can battle him."
"Hahaha! So this little shrimp is your last line of defense?" Jake said mockingly. "Fine, I'll take all of you out easily."
"Go Dewott!" Albert said.
"Go Relicanth!" Maris said.
"Go Bellsprout and Oddish!" Jake said.
As the battle progressed, I was watching how Jake fought. As I walked over closer to the door to get a better look, I felt a small thing scuttle over my foot and then rub against my leg. I looked down to find the Spinarak that Kirlia had defeated earlier. The little spider seemed to smile at me and nudge at the Pokeballs in my pocket. It was obvious he wanted to come with me. Quickly without anyone else noticing, I caught Spinarak and registered him with Kirlia in my iPoke. At that moment, I realized something that would help me out greatly against Jake.
After a well fought battle that lasted a while, Jake finally triumphed over Albert and Maris with a final Razor Leaf.
"Yes! Finally! Now hand over the badge, Maris." Jake said impatiently.
"Hold up. You still have to get through me." I said.
"Fine then, shrimp. You want a beating, you'll get one." He replied trying to look menacing.
"We'll have a fight 'Mano y Mano'" I said.
"What the heck is that supposed to mean?" Jake said confused.
"It means one on one, muscle head." I said with a sneer.
"Go Poochyena!"
"Go Spinarak!"
"Ryan, where'd you get the Spinarak?" Both Albert and Maris asked me.
"I found it a little earlier while you guys were battling." I replied.
"Enough with the chit chat. Lets go!" Jake exclaimed. "Poochyena, use Scratch."
"Spinarak, dodge it and then use Bug Bite!"
Poochyena lunged forward and clawed at Spinarak and missed. Spinarak then spun around and sliced Poochyena with an X-Scissors attack instead making Poochyena faint.
"Nice job Spinarak, but why didn't you listen to me?" I asked.
"Do you not have the first gym badge?" Albert asked.
"No, why?" I replied.
"If you don't have any badges, then pokemon above Level 30 won't listen to you" Albert said.
"Oh, ok then." I murmured embarrassedly.
"Well, gym badges or not, I still have more Pokemon so let's go!" Jake said impatiently. "Go Bellsprout."
"Spinarak! Look at me!" I called out.
Spinarak spun around and looked at curiously.
"You know exactly what you need to do. Jake's last two pokemon are grass type. Fight how you see fit" I said entrusting Spinarak with the match.
"Bellsprout, Razor Leaf!"
As the sharp leaves flew at Spinarak, he shot some string at the ceiling and raised himself up to the top of the room.
"What the heck is Spinarak doing, Ryan?" Maris asked.
"I'm not sure but I believe that he knows what he is doing" I replied.
At that moment, Spinarak leaped from the ceiling towards Bellsprout. Bellsprout was paralyzed in fear as Spinarak landed a perfect Aerial Ace on it. Bellsprout slumped down on the ground in defeat.
"Go Oddish! Use Ingrain!"
As Oddish dug roots into the ground, Spinarak used Double Team and surrounded Oddish. Spinarak and his copies then all lunged at Oddish leaving the single Spinarak with its claw on the passed out Oddish.
"Yeah! All right Spinarak!" I exclaimed as Albert and Maris were applauding on the side.
"Nice job, Ryan. I will be back and I will defeat you one day" Jake said as he sulked out of the gym.
"That was one heck of a battle, Ryan! Good job!" Albert said.
"Yes, yes. Very impressive. I have never seen anyone fight like that before." Maris said. "However, there is a problem. You need to be able to control Spinarak and also Kirlia when she reaches level 30.
You must defeat the first gym leader."

Introducing Jake, the pain in everyone's butt.
I guess he will be the rival for this story, but I only plan on using him a couple times.
By the way, for those of you wondering, "Any relations to persons living or dead is completely coincidental."
Yes, I did just quote Despicable Me.
Why? Because I can.
Anyways, the first gym battle is next! I know that you guys will enjoy it.
Thanks for your support!
