ASHLEY'S POV
You know how it feels when you discreetly sabotage or hide something from someone as a child? They'd be so sad and brokenhearted and they'd tell you all about it to your face and you'd feel so proud of yourself because you did something evil and got away with it. When they'd still be talking about it after a few days you'd get annoyed, wondering if they'll ever get over it. But then in the end, you'd still be filled with guilt because you did something that truly hurt them that they're still sad about it after a few weeks. But you never want to admit your mistake because just imagine how hurt they'd be if they knew you caused them great pain.
All this, I'm telling Ashton who was listening at the other end of the line.
"That's exactly how I feel." I said.
"Mhmm." Ashton hummed in acknowledgement.
"You're the only person I can rant to." I said. "So if you get sick and tired of me, I just want you to know I'm not the drummer boy who has every girl throwing themselves on my feet and is super friendly and can make friends with everyone."
"Is that really how you think of me?" He chuckled. "I don't look at girls that way, babe."
"Don't 'babe' me, go u8'babe' Bianca." I joked.
"Bryana." He corrected.
"I haven't seen this girl. Who is she?" I asked.
"She's from our school. Blonde hair, mesmerizing eyes, she's just straight up gorgeous." He explained.
"Be more specific, lover boy. I'm into girls, too, anyone can be blonde with mesmerizing eyes and gorgeous." I smiled.
"You'll know her when you see her." He ensured.
"That's because you're always with her!" Anne yelled from somewhere in the background.
"Mom!" He whined. I laughed.
"Is that Anne?" I asked.
"Oh, no, that was Calum. Of course it's Mom!" His sarcasm made me laugh harder.
"Tell her I said hi and I agree with her." I said.
"No! What?! You're supposed to be on my side!" He argued.
"Can I come over tonight?" I asked, ignoring his previous statement.
"Sure. Time?" He asked with no hesitation.
"Before dinner." I said, after a short glance at the clock.
"Seriously, Ash?" He had a voice of disbelief. "Look, I know you hate your dad and all but your mom loves him. But it's not her fault. She used to love him, oblivious to what he might bring to her. Now, she still loves him. Love doesn't just disappear in the blink of an eye, you know? It's hard enough for you to cooperate with what's going on, imagine how hard it is for her. No mother wants to eat a meal alone with her thoughts. She has children, she was there when they needed her. Why can't you be there when she needs you?"
I sighed heavily. I sniffled once. Then twice. Then the third time. "You're right. After dinner, then?"
"Yeah, sure. I gotta go, see you later?"
"Yeah. Bye."
"Bye, love you."
I shut my eyes. "Love you, too."
I tied my hair up in a messy ponytail, because my workplace asks us girls with long hair to tie it up neatly but I couldn't care less about neat and tidiness. I got out of my clothes and got out my baby blue uniform. I put it on and began singing as I was in the mood.
