MICHAEL'S POV

"Who would've thought a four-song extended play would be so hard to put together?" Ashton groaned, slamming his fist against the dinner table. The other boys sighed in agreement.

"Just slap in four songs and release it. Bam." I said, it really wasn't easier said than done.

"It's not like that, Ash." Calum exhaled. "You can't just insert four pointless lousy songs and let the entire world listen to it."

"All of the songs I listened to so far isn't all too bad. Just take the four I chose and we can move on." I said. We were all too hungry. Someone better not make a Snickers joke.

I decided to just pull out my phone and do something to get my mind off of my grumbling stomach and the grumpy boys. I was super stressed with Color Switch so I went off to Instagram and scrolled through my feed.

The boys started to raise their voices and it made me feel slightly scared in a way.

"Guys." I said, softly. I don't think they heard me. "Boys..?"

"If every single song we've ever recorded sounds terrible to you then why did you stay in the band?" Ashton screamed in Michael's face.

"I didn't say that, Ash." Michael said calmly, trying to remain steady.

"Then what did you say?" Ashton argued, clenching his fists by his side as he towered over a still seated Michael.

"I just said that we should record other ones because we don't sound like we intend to in all of our current songs and covers." Michael spoke, not daring to break eye contact and rip apart his brave act.

"We wanted to sound good. Are you saying we don't?" Ashton asked, bending down to be on the same eye level as Michael.

"No, Ash, you don't understa-"

"Then explain!" Ashton yelled, Michael flinched in the most slightly. "Enlighten me."

"Boys." I called them. "Please, stop."

But they didn't hear me. "I just meant that we should redo everything because we've improved and we shouldn't release old stuff to portray us as a band." Michael continued, getting ready to get up if Ashton pushes even more.

"Boys!" I yelled, standing up. When I got their attention, I walked towards them. I stood in between Ashton and Michael, breaking them apart. "No need to get too stressed over this EP. This isn't what your entire life revolves around. This is an EP, not an album. This kind of like a stepping stone, instead of a breakthrough platform. This is kind of a demo of the album. "

The boys nodded at my words.

"See? So there's no need to crack your heads in half to decide what songs go on the EP. Just shove in the songs I chose, like you originally planned, and then we'd record an album after the tour, okay?" I attempted to calm them down.

"Alright." Ashton said, exhaling his anger. He sat back down in his chair.

"Yeah.." Michael agreed. I smiled at my success.

"So, the EP? What about the name?" I asked, taking a seat next to Michael. Well, on the same chair, but not on his lap.

"Oh, shit."

~ THE NEXT DAY ~

"What's that word?" Michael asked, still writing.

"What word?" I asked.

"I don't know, that's what I'm asking you." He chuckled.

"But I don't know what word you're talking about." I laughed. "What's the meaning?"
