HANNAH'S POV
"Hello, am I speaking to Ashley Frangipane?" A man said.
"Uhm, sorry, no. This is the house phone. I'm her mother, Hannah Frangipane. Would you like me to call her?" My eyebrows furrowed, I feel like I've heard this voice before.
"No!" He shouted, surprising me. A small gasp left my lips, and he cleared his throat. "I mean, no. No, thank you. This is perfect, actually. Just in case you hadn't picked up yet, I'm Sean. You might have known me as Jack, my mother always called me that. Uhm, I was planning to come surprise your daughter. I really hope this means as much to her as it means to me. And I also hope she sees what I mean behind this. I live all the way in Ireland, and I've recently gathered enough money to visit your family in Australia. I hope not much has changed since I... left."
"It would be a pleasant surprise, I'm sure of it. Nothing drastic changed, I'm sure you're still familiar with all of us. Well, I can't wait to see you again, Jack! I take it, since it's a surprise, that I can't tell?" A teasing tone to my voice.
"Oh, of course not! That would ruin it." He chuckled. I did, too. "Well, I've got to pack up. On June 14th, expect me there. I'll text you more details. I have your number, got it from me mum."
"Alright then." Quickly checking my calendar. "It's the eleventh today, I'm so excited to see you!"
"I can't wait to see you guys again, too. It's been too long." There was a comfortable pause. "Well, until then, Mrs Frangipane."
"Goodbye, Jack. Pleasure talking to you." I hung up, sighing. Now, how is Ashley going to cope with her boyfriend halfway across the globe and her ex-fiancé back in Australia after almost 4 years?
ASHLEY'S POV
"Yeah, so, this is my girlfriend; Cheyenne." Emily introduced.
"Hi." I waved, a polite smile never leaving my face. "I'm Ashley. Emily's childhood best friend. I know all her embarrassing stories, so if you ever feel like shit, especially if she caused it, come to me."
She giggled. "Hey, Ashley. I can tell we'll get along well."
"Yeah, you guys will be just like sisters." Em says, making my face scrunch up in disgust as I cringed.
"That'll be like a form of... I don't know, incest?" I chuckled half-heartedly indicating I wasn't against them in any way.
"And why's that?" Cheyenne asked with full, round eyes of curiosity.
"Because Em's already like a sister to me. And if we're gonna be 'just like sisters', it'll be like my two sisters dating each other." I shruggwd, sipping on my caramel macchiato.
"Well, take her as your sister-in-law." Em shrugged as if it were no big deal. Cheyenne smiled as Emily had a satisfied smirk on her face.
They're so cute, it's disgusting.
Both their heads faced me, and I shrunk a few inches in my sear. With a small voice, just barely over a whisper, I asked "Did I say that out loud?"
Their somber faces were all the confirmation I needed. Mumbling a quiet 'sorry', I sipped innocently on my dailr dose of caffeine, instantly regretting the thought itself.
~~~~~~~~
"So, how long have you guys been together?"
We were walking down the street together, enjoying the cool air right before the sun blew out. They held each other's hand tight swinging back and forth, cuddled up next to each other as I attempted to somehow hug myself and conceal my torso from the cold wind.
