I sit in my car solemnly, tapping my short stubby nails against the steering wheel. Should I go in?
Am I doing the right thing?

I contemplate what exactly I am doing, which is sitting outside Ben's house. After sitting there like an idiot I decide to go do what my heart wants.

Flinging the car door open, I get out determined to get some answers. Closing it forcefully behind me I stroll up to his door and knock. Without even hesitating.

A tired ruffled Ben answers the door. He looks at me tiredly yawning.
"Riley! It's too early." He mumbles, whilst the roll my eyes and check my watch.
"It's actually eleven thirty and most people are up and about at this moment in time." I say matter of factly cracking a forced smile.

"Why are you here though?" He asks crinkling his nose in confusion.
"I need to talk to you!" I say nervously looking into his ocean coloured eyes.
"Come on in then, I guess you need these answers urgently." He says stepping to the side of the door.
"Thank you Ben." I say thankfully smiling faintly.

"Take a seat whilst I grab some drinks." He says gesturing to the couch. Looking around his house is pretty immaculate. Noticing a picture frame on the wall of him and a girl, with long auburn hair and a bright smile. I walk over to it. He's wearing football gear and has a lazy smile on his face and an arm draped around the girls shoulders.
"I never knew you played football!" I exclaim turning and looking at him.

"Yeah I was the quarter back, nearly had a scholarship for some football college." He replies modestly. Walking over to me and putting the drinks down.
"Why didn't you go?" I ask confused, surely if you had an opportunity like that you would take it.
"Stuff happened, long story." He says quietly, sitting down.
"I'm a good listener and I have all day." I say smiling comfortingly. He smiles faintly at me and pats the chair beside him.

"Well, I stopped football because of a girl." He starts looking at the photograph. I nod and sip my drink.
"The girl in the photo actually, she was my best friend." He says sadly, picking up the photo.

"She was?" I question.
"Hush I'm getting to it." He smiles forcefully pausing I'm thought before continuing.
"She died, a week before her nineteenth birthday." He says his voice shaky.

"Are you sure you want to carry on?" I ask sympathetically, feeling awful for asking him to go through this much to tell me.
"I'm fine, she killed herself Riley and there was nothing I could do to save her." He blurts out a tear falling down his cheek. I move over to him and hug him.
