So guys as you may have seen in previous authors notes, I have no idea where this is headed and I'm trying my best to make the storyline actually work but ya know that's not working well.
Alex POV The nerves wracking through my body the moment I gave her the ring was over whelming. I had no idea if she would have even accepted it!
Hell she could've just dumped me and left me right there. Actually that's more of a thing Mel would do. Riley is actually a good person, who cares, loves and looks out for me and doesn't use me as an ornament on her shoulder.
I do have another plan for her birthday tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward to. Also as she is 19 I decided not to give her something boring and instead something worth while. Since I did give her movies and books for Christmas.
Which wasn't very original, I do admit. Especially because she gave me a really lovely record player with some vintage 80s records.
I really didn't want her to spend that much on me for Christmas, but she's really stubborn and when I tried to give her some of the vinyls back but she blatantly refused. That is why I tried and thought really hard about her present as I wanted to make it count.
Riley pov My heart has been racing all night and this morning. I just still can't register that Alex gave me a promise ring. When I was younger I never expected to fall in love, I expected a fake temporary relationship that either ended in break up or divorce.
I'm just praying that this relationship will be my happy ever after. I want to be able to grow old with Alex. I cannot think about how lucky I am to have found him. Sometimes I think about how Mel and Alex were dated and I really wonder how he put up with her.
Anyways I have to get ready for brunch with Alex, his grandparents and his mum. I shower quickly before dabbing some concealer and mascara onto my face. Pulling on a floral skirt, tights and a sweater I head downstairs.

Alex was sitting on one of the bar stools, playing a game on his phone. "Hey, is everyone ready to get going?" I ask as he looks up, walking over and pecking his cheek gently. "I think so, you look beautiful Riley!" He smiles putting his phone in his pocket. "Why thank you, you look rather dashing your self." I wink before linking arms with him and heading towards the living room.
