Curiosity was eating me as I drove to her apartment. I wanted to know why she was leaving alone. I wanted to know her relationship with this Leo guy. I wanted to know why she didn't fight Amber back. I wanted to know how often she visits the gym and also I wanted to know how she obtained the cuts on her knuckles the other night. Furthermore, I wanted to know why she was so tensed during every car ride.
She might be a boxer. From the way she was punching the punching bag to her posture and techniques, you could easily guess she was a fighter.
As I pulled up at her apartment, she said thanks and was about to step out of the car when I stopped her.
My hand wrapped around her wrist and she turned around looked at my hand then up at me.
"What is it?" she asked. Her voice sounded strained and tired.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked.
"You already did." She said, flashing me a smile. I rolled my eyes at her playfully as she repositioned herself in her seat, closing the door in the process.
"Ask away." She said. I took a deep breath as she stared at me with her green intimidating eyes. My hand never leaving her wrist and I didn't want to let go. She too didn't mind as she waited for me to ask my question.
"Are a boxer or something?" I asked. I watched her averted her gaze from me and muttered a couple of words under her breath which sounded like "I guess you should know."
"I am boxer, I guess. I only fight when Leo, the owner of the gym held some kind of boxing competition. Besides that, I only train with him to practice or relief some stress. So..." she trailed.
I was impressed. Now wonder she was fit and explains the cuts on her knuckles the other day.
"For how long?" I asked, sounding a bit too excited. She was slowly telling me more about her and I was ecstatic. She smiled a bit at me excitement before replying.
"My dad used to be boxing coach there and he would train my brother and I. I grew up surrounded by those things and I guess it's a part of me now." She explained; a glint of happiness shines in her eyes as she spoke.
The thing I could not get off my brain at that moment was that she said her father used to.
"What do you mean used to? He's not dead, is he?" My mouth sometimes, just don't know when to filter.
She flinched a bit when I mentioned death and I immediately felt guilty. Before I could say anything, she beat me to it.
"No, he's still here. He's just... not available at the moment." She said; the glint of happiness in her eyes long gone now.
I wanted to question her more but the sound of thunder cut me off. Raven looked out the window as raindrops hit it. She cursed under her breath and she tried to rush out of the car.
I tightened my hand around her wrist and tugged her towards me a bit. She froze as I leaned closer to her. I reached up and held her uninjured cheek to keep her in place. I leaned close and pressed a gentle kiss on her jaw, right on the bruise. Her cheeks turned pink as I did so.
"I'm really sorry she did this." I whispered as I pulled away slightly, looking into her eyes. Our faces only an inch away. By that time, rain was already pouring against my car.
"It's not your fault." She whispered back at me. I stroked her cheek lightly with my thumb, making her looking more flustered. Another thunder erupted, making both of us jumped. She pulled away and this time I let her go.
"I'll see you tomorrow." She said, lowly. She opened the car door and ran to her apartment. She turned and waved at me before walking in.
I stayed there a few moments, replaying our moment a few seconds ago before driving home.
Curiosity was eating me again but I decided to restrained myself for a while, letting her warm up to me but at least, we're making progress.
