Eleven

A week had passed and my mother's birthday was coming.

I was thinking maybe I could bake a cake for my mother before her birthday and surprise her at midnight.

I called Marcus to help me bake because I could set the kitchen on fire if I bake alone but Marcus was going out of town that weekend. So my last resort would be non-other than Raven.

I was currently on my bed, debating whether I should call her or not. I could've bought a cake but I wanted it to be special and also I crave to spend time with Raven.

Fuck it.

I clicked her number and waited for her to pick up. She answered on the third ring.

"Hello?" she said.

"Yeah, hi." I greeted her.

"What can I do for you, Trevor?" she asked and I was still not over her saying my name.

"I need your help." I said.

"Okay, for what?" she asked.

"So, my mother's birthday is coming and I wanted to bake a cake for her. I called Marcus but he's not available tomorrow and her birthday is the day after tomorrow and I don't want to do it alone. I'm scared that I might set the kitchen on fire again- I was cut off when I heard Raven laughed at the end of the line.

"Trevor, you talk too much." She stated. "And you set your kitchen on fire before?"

"That was one time." I groaned. "So are you going to help me or not?"

"Sure. Tomorrow at what time?" She asked and I fist bump the air.

"Around 4?" I asked. My mother was working an evening shift and she would be leaving at 3. My father would be working from morning and he would be home by 6 or so. So I have to talk to him to keep the cake a secret and asked him to join me to surprise my mother that night.

"Sure. I'll be at your house at 4." She said.

"Oh no, I'll pick you up. We have to go shopping for the ingredients." I suggested.

"Okay, you can pick me up at diner. I get off at 3.30." she stated. "Oh, and what cake do you plan on making? I'll write down the ingredients."

"My mother loves red velvet cake." I told her. My mother would order that every time we go out for dinner for her desert.

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow." Raven said.

"See you."

Tomorrow is going to be fun.

I decided to sleep in the next morning since I got nothing better to do. I woke up at about 12 and had lunch with my mother.

"So any plans today?" My mother asked, cutting her potatoes.

"Yeah, I'm hanging out with Raven." I said before taking a sip of my drink.

"You really like her, huh?" I choked on my drink and had a coughing fit. How did she figure that out?

"I don't know what you're talking about." I choked out, taking a big gulp of water.
