Two
What I remembered last about her that fine Monday was her black combat boots walking away and out of the door.
I felt like I was being pulled towards her; to get closer. I haven't felt that way before and it scared me so I decided to ignore it.
I walked out of the classroom and met with Alex who was talking to some girl. When he saw me, he whispered something to her and walked up to me but not before sending her a wink which made her cheeks flushed. Typical Alex.
"What's up, man?" he greeted me and I just nodded in response. We met up with the rest of the group and we were off to Marcus's house. We would play video games, watch movies and sometimes pig out. We did this every weekday but change up the place. Sometimes it could be my house or Elijah's or Alex's or Marcus's.
Once we arrived at Marcus's house, each one of us plopped on the couch and I reached for the remote to see if there was any show on.
"Dude, you okay?" Elijah placed a hand on shoulder. "You've been awfully quite."
I didn't even notice. I guess I was deep in thought. "I'm fine. Just thinking of a project I have to do." I answered; my eyes fixed on the TV.
"What project?" Alex asked.
"It's for biology." I left Raven out of it; didn't think it would matter if I told them.
Marcus started to talk about how hot the girl sitting next to him was and we just continued talking and played video games for a while till I beat all of them. They gave up and suggest we go out to grab a bite to eat.
We drove there and as usual at dinner time, the diner was almost full. So we decided to go to the arcade nearby a bit since it looked like there wasn't any place to sit.
When we returned, it was almost 10 o'clock and only a few people were left. We went in and sat at a booth near the window. Elijah sat by the window and next to me while Alex and Marcus sat across from me. A waitress came shortly after and took our orders. While we waited for our food, we talked about the game that was coming soon.
Our food came 15 minutes later and this time, it was a different waitress and I recognized that jet black hair. It was her, it was Raven.
She was wearing a long sleeve fit black shirt with black washed out jeans and her combat boots. She also had a white apron tied around her hip. Her hair was up in a ponytail but it was done messily. A few strands of hair fell over her face which was still covered with the face mask. I must have been staring her for too long that Elijah; who was sitting next to me, nudged my side with his elbow. I drifted my eyes from her who didn't notice me there to Elijah. He was sitting there with a smug look on his face and I just shook my head and dig in.
The boys were having a conversation but I didn't pay attention to it. My attention was at my biology partner who was cleaning some plates from tables across from me. She was so focusing on her work that she didn't noticed me staring at all or even my loud annoying friends or anything going on around her.
She cleared up a table and brought some plates back to the kitchen. I shook my head and continued eating my meal and conversing with my friends.
"Dude, you okay?" Elijah said as he slapped my shoulder; making me choked a bit.
"I'm fine." I answered as I proceeded to take a sip of my drink.
"Are you sure? Because you seemed lost for a second and stared into space or something or someone." As he said that he looked at where I was looking at. Thank god Raven wasn't there anymore.
"No, I'm fine. So, are you guys ready for the game?" I said; trying to change the subject. They didn't push the subject any further and started talking about the game. I joined in every now and then but my mind wasn't there. Raven was nowhere in sight and I guess she was working at the back.
The double doors of the kitchen suddenly open and I perked up to see if it was Raven but turns out it wasn't. It was the girl who took our order.
God, why am I so worked up by this girl?
I shook my head and focused on something else which was my drink and I found my milkshake was gone. It was in Marcus's hand and he was savoring every bit of it. I leaned forward and grabbed it but Marcus tugged on it that caused the milkshake to splatter all over the table and also on my shirt.
"Fuck." I muttered; looking down at my shirt. They all burst out laughing and soon, so did I. I got up and walked to the restroom.
As I was done cleaning my shirt which was slightly wet, I grabbed a handful of toilet paper and tried to dry my shirt. I wasn't looking where I was going when I bumped into someone causing that someone to stumble; losing their balance. Thankfully, I snake my arm around their waist and bringing that someone closer to me with another hand holding their arm.
Then I noticed that jet black hair and those piercing green eyes; looking up at me. I was close to a head taller than her that caused her to crane her neck to look up at me.
She had removed her face mask; revealing her whole face. Her face was slightly pale with light freckles sprinkled on the bridge of her nose. Her cheekbones were well structured that complimented her heart shaped face. Her nose was the perfect shape for her with a hint of redness at the tip caused by her flu. Her lips though, wasn't exactly full but wasn't thin. It looked like she was pouting but she wasn't. I couldn't believe how gorgeous this girl was and wondered how I didn't notice her before. I didn't know how long I was staring like a creep but I saw her lips moving.
"Sorry, what?" I muttered. She gave me a blank look and said. "I said are you okay? And I apologize for bumping into you. I wasn't paying attention."
"No, I was my fault. I came out of the restroom cleaning my shirt. I wasn't seeing where I was going, it was totally my fault. I'm sorry." I rambled on; still in awe at how she looked.
"Okay, so can you let me go now?" she said; gesturing to my hands. I noticed our position at that time and let her go.
"I'm sorry again." I said; scratching the back of my neck awkwardly.
She bent down and picked up a piece of cloth from the floor which I guessed she dropped during our collision.
"It's okay. Have a good night, Trevor." She said; placing a strand of hair behind her ear as she walked to the kitchen.
She remembered my name. The way she said it though, made me feel something inside.
I silently thanked god caused our little scene was out of view from my friends. I composed myself and walked back to my friends.
