Eighteen
She wasn't in school the next day.
I waited by her locker but she was a no show. At first I thought she was late but she didn't show up for lunch or biology either. I thought that she might be absent because she was angry with me but that couldn't be it. She was fine when I sent her home yesterday.
When the bell rang, signaling the end of school, I sprinted out of biology and pulled out my phone; ignoring Amber's attempt to grasp my attention.
The call went straight to voicemail and my first instinct was to go to her apartment and that was just what I did. I parked my car and walked towards the building.
Upon reaching her floor, I rushed towards her door. I knocked and waited for her to answer but she didn't. I knocked again and waited. All of this felt like déjà vu. I was scared that something might happen to her just like the other time this happened.
When no one answered the door, I went back to my car and drove towards the gym but unfortunately, it was close.
My last option was the diner.
All through the time I drove to the diner, I kept hoping that nothing would happen to her. It was then I realized even more that my feelings for her were that strong. I just loved being around her and the need to protect her was getting stronger every day. To be honest, this scared me. I have never felt this way before; not even with Amber. Sure, I had feelings for her but not this strong. I honestly don't know what to do anymore.
I parked the car outside the diner and rushed inside. There were a few people around and I immediately walked around in search for Raven.
I saw the waitress from the other day serving some coffee to a customer at a diner. I walked towards her and she lifted her head, making eye contact with me.
"Hey, Trevor right?" she said; grabbing a cloth and wiped the counter. I nodded and stood closer to the counter.
"Have you seen Raven?" I asked her.
She stopped cleaning and placed the cloth behind the counter. "No. She's not working today."
Fuck! Where could she be?
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "Do you have any idea where she is?" I asked.
She shrugged and threw her red hair off her shoulder. "No, sorry. Aunt Clara told me to fill in for her; saying that Raven have to go out of town today." She shrugged.
Out of town?
"What is she out of town for?" I asked her.
"I'm not sure." She answered and walked away for a moment to take someone's order.
I ran a hand down my face and let out a frustrated sigh. Where was she going?
She came back and gave me a smile. "Do you want to drink anything? Or eat maybe?"
I nodded and ordered a chocolate milkshake. She placed the milkshake in front of me and moved to grab a plate on the window behind her. She went to give the food to the customer while I drank my milkshake.
A thought came into mind when she walked past me.
"Hey." I called out for her. She looked over at me and stood in front of me again.
"The other day, you said something about Raven had had it rough, what do you mean by that?" I asked her, leaning forward a bit.
She went silent for a bit before responding. "It's not my place to tell."
