Twenty

I spent the next morning in my room; avoiding my father.

He got home when I came back home last night. He was already asleep I guess when I rushed to my room.

By the time it was lunch, my stomach was growling none stop. The chips that I had under my bed were already gone. I ate all of them for breakfast.

I looked at the time and it was nearly 3 and I was sure my father was home.

Groaning, I rolled of the bed and descend downstairs. I went to the kitchen and made myself some sandwich.

My mother was working today and I was left alone at home with my father.

He wasn't downstairs though, he was probably in his office. I finished eating my food and was about to walk back upstairs but my father was blocking the door of the kitchen.

"We need to talk." He said. At first I wanted to stormed to my room but I agreed and we sat by the kitchen counter.

"I had made a decision." He stated.

"Okay." I replied, getting more and more uninterested in this conversation.

"I'm going to let you pursue your dream." At first I thought he was saying he was not letting me go for football.

"You can't- wait what?" I said, clearly not listening to him properly.

He sighed. "I'm letting you pursue football." He said with an amused smile on his face.

"You're serious?" I asked; bewildered that his letting me do what I want to do.

"Yes." He nodded. "But if it doesn't work out, then you have to pursue law or something else."

"It will work out." I grinned. "I promise it will work out." I got up and hugged my father. Thank god, he finally understood what I want to do with my future.

He hugged me back and smiled before walking away. I was so happy at that moment. I tried calling my mother to tell her the news but she wasn't answering. I looked at the time and it was almost five and my mother gets off at 8. I couldn't wait that long.

Bolting to my room, I changed to some jeans and a dark grey hoodie. I told my dad was going to see my friends before heading out.

I drove to the hospital and went to the floor my mother worked at. I saw her at the reception doing some paper work.

"Mum!" she shot her head up at my voice but quickly shushed me because my excitement was too loud.

I sent a few people an apologetic smile before shuffling towards my mother.

She had this knowing look on her face when I reached the counter.

"Your father finally told you, huh?" she said. My smile dropped a bit before grinning. So she knew.

"Yeah." I nodded. My mother walked from behind the counter and gave me a hug.

"Do your best." She whispered to me. I nodded before my eyes landed on someone walking down the hallway ahead of me.

Raven looked different this time. Her hair was up in a ponytail and this time, she wore a sundress; a blue sundress with small yellow flowers on it. She had her usual combat boots on and in her hands were dead flowers. That's weird.

She threw the flowers in a nearby dustbin before continuing her way down the hallway. My mother let me go and looked at me and gazed at what I was looking.
