chapter 5 - spring dance

    All dressed and ready to go, its almost seven my dad looks at me with a tear in his eye and gives me a big kiss and says 'he is so proud of me and they all say enjoy yourself this is your night.' As i pop to the toilet Matthew knocks on the door my parents invite him in he is dressed in a black tux with a white shirt and shiny black smart shoes and as he see's me walking down the stairs he is standing there with his mouth wide open and as he grasps my hand as i reach the bottom he say to me 'wow Laycee you look stunning am so proud to have you on my arm tonight.' He hands me a real soft petal single red rose it smelt refreshing. As we walk out the door mum and dad say 'enjoy yourself both of you.' We say 'thank you' 'and i will be back by ten dad' if that OK. 'yes that fine Laycee just go and have some fun and keep an eye on your brothers 'bye guys. we get into a black stretched limo am in utter shock i cant believe he has got a stretched limo for us, he has my favorite drink as well bubblegum he knows me to well. Wow this limo is lush with the lights and leather seats and wow i cant believe you did this for me i mean us. I want you to feel special Laycee because you are very special to me. thank you Matthew.

As we are about to get out of the limo i take a deep breath and say to Matthew' i don't know if i can do this what if everyone laughs at me makes jokes about me.'Laycee if anyone says anything to you that is bad i will tell them don't worry, i have got you always and forever my lovely. He always knows what to say to make me feel happy and secure. I think he might be the one for me, but i cant it cant happen i will never be loved its my fear. Matthew gets out the limo and holds his hand out for mine its feels so right as i climb out the limo, we walk up the college path hand in hand i feel normal for once i feel free. 'Are you OK' Matthew asks i say 'yes as long as you are with me i feel safe.' Am glad i do Laycee am here for you always, he turns to look at me and puts his hands on my face and kisses me in front of everyone at the college, my face flushes red with embarrassment. Everyone is looking and talking to one another about us. He is proud he is holding his head up high and so do i it feels great as we walk into the dance hall holding hands. 'My lovely would you like a drink' 'yes please,' am just going to the table where my brothers are i will meet you there. OK my lovely. My brothers look at me and say 'Laycee you had your first kiss and you looked so happy we are so proud of you you look amazing sis.' Thanks bros means a lot Matthew makes me feel special safe secure, i feel i can be myself when i am with him. I think someone might be in love, don't be silly it will and can not ever happen no one will want me. Laycee look over at Matthew he cant keep his eyes off you he adores you, he even called you my lovely i think he fancies you. Well we will have to wait and see. 'Hi my lovely here is your drink once we are finished do you wish to dance with me.' I asked for a good song off your favorite film dirty dancing, 'i'ave had the time of my life'. 'Oh Matthew yes i would love to dance with you and you really do know me.' As our song starts he grasps my hands and pulls me close, with his hand on my wast and other on my shoulder and me doing the same it feels so right. I know people are looking at us but for once in my life i don't care am happy am having fun i love it. We dance and dance some more we are having a great time. Then one girl comes over to us and asks Matthew 'why are you dancing with this freak,' and he says politely 'i don't need to explain myself to any of you am happy and proud to be at the dance with Laycee she is beautiful and amazing she is great inside and out she is my lovely.' I wanted to cry, when i heard Matthew say those things i felt like wow he really does like me. He hugged me and said don't listen to them, them girls are anyone's everything i said it true and i mean every word, may i kiss you am not ashamed I LOVE YOU Laycee. Yes Matthew its fine and and i i don't know if i can say it. Don't worry it will come with time, i feel it but if i say the words it will seem real and am not ready for that yet. Its fine Laycee don't worry, and he kisses me his lips soft and makes me tingle all over his breath minty fresh. Well its almost ten are you ready to go home, yes i think i have danced my feet off thank you Matthew for tonight, i have really enjoyed myself you have made me feel like me again. Am so happy i make you feel that way am glad you had fun now come on lets go my lovely. As we pull up outside my house mum and dad peaking through the curtains, goodnight Matthew it was lovely i enjoyed myself, goodnight Laycee. he leans over giving me a peck on the lips. I get out and go in house and take a deep breath.
