It's a week and half before the wedding early hours of Sunday morning, i get these horrible cringing pains in my stomach as if someone put a knife in me it was so bad. I call for Matthew!! I don't think he hears me at first, but as I hobble to the room he comes out. 'oh laycee what's wrong' Matthew in a scared voice. He was in tears all I could say 'phone ambulance I think it's the baby,' but baby not due yet. I know but it don't feel right I need checking out.
He grabs my hospital bag throws it in to the car then rushes to start the car then comes back for me, lucky the hospital is only 15 minutes away. On the way the pains getting stronger and stronger, as we arrive I just get out of the car, I feel a gush come from me i shout 'OMG Matthew my waters have gone get help now.' He rushes to the entrance in a scared voice 'help help my partner is in labour and her waters have just gone.' They grab a wheelchair and come over to me get me seated and off up to the ward.
As soon as am settled on the bed a midwife comes to check me she says you are 7 cm dilated just three more cm's to go then you can start pushing. This can't be my baby not due for another two week and half. Midwife says 'this little one wants to meet mum and dad early, don't worry this can sometimes happen it's normal.' Matthew says 'ok but what if something is wrong.' 'Did the scans show anything wrong' asked the midwife. I speak up 'no everything is perfect.' 'Ok now I will leave you for an hour if you need me press the orange button' she says. Matthew we don't have a name yet, maybe when we look at her it will come to us then. 'Yes it will darling.' Now am going to call our parents is there anyone else' no just you, Love you! love you babe. So I can't move off this bed they have heart monitor checking baby heartbeat the pains are so bad now I think I need pain relief. I press for midwife, she comes in 'is everything ok.' No! I say in an uproar I need pain relief give me anything NOW! 'Ok laycee I will give you gas and air, everytime you feel a contraction you breath this in it will take the edge off it for you.' Comands midwife. She leaves and I get a big contraction, i take the gas and air and oh god it's gone stright to my head I love it I feel giddy. Matthew enters 'Ok babe our parents are on there way.' Love you I slur. 'What is up is something wrong' Matthew panics. No babe I got this pain relief gas and air and I feel so giddy I slur even more. He finds it funny, don't laugh you did this to me you got me like this. I shout. Midwife runs to our room 'is everything ok' Matthew ' no she is acting weird saying things it's not her. Midwife 'this does happen but don't worry she won't remember she said anything.' I shout 'I NEED TO PUSH IT'S COMING.'
Midwife settles me on the bed checks me 'yes she is ready I will get the sorted.' Midwife 'Ok laycee on you next contraction push down to your chest for me, keep going, keep going, ok rest. Here's another push, push. Matthew 'come on babe you can do it' as I grab his hand so tight he face changes red. Midwife 'that's the head out now give a second as a move baby to get the rest out, ok ready do you have another 'yes its ready' I say. Midwife 'Ok push and pant' pant ok one big push baby is here. Tired and breathless is it a girl, 'yes with dark hair' says midwife. I look at Matthew he has tears rolling down his face I touch his face we kiss and smile at each other. Midwife ' baby weighs 8lb 4oz good size.' Midwife ' here is baby does mum want a hold first.' Yes please' I say. Oh Matthew look she is beautiful she has your nose, my cubby cheeks, little hand and feet. We are overwhelmed by her, but what to call her. Matthew I think I have it but if you don't like it just say please, ok tell me Ava Jayne Grey. Matthew 'oh laycee I love it hello little Ava.'
There's a knock on the door it's now lunchtime our parents come into the room with balloons, cards, gifts. Mum says 'Where is little one' I say 'she is here daddy got his princess.' Poppy 'she looks so cute in your arms, here let me get a few pictures and you two sam.' Dad says ' do we have a name for little one.' I say 'Yes dad we do she is called Ava Jayne Grey what do you think.' They all say ' that is lovely it suites her.' Ave got to stop in for a few hours to make sure everything's ok, so do you mind if I take a shower Matthew help me off the bed please. Everyone 'yes you get yourself sorted.' The shower feels so refreshing I feel clean I get dryed and dressed I just pop my pj's on for now till we know what's happening. When I come back to my room everyone apart from Matthew has gone I panic 'where has everyone gone? where is Ava?' Matthew 'don't worry Ava sleeping I just give her a feed and changed her with help, it's time for your dinner so everyone has gone for there's, am going to join them we will see you at half one babe. Me 'ok babe it smells lovely am starving.' We kiss and off he goes. I glance at little miss she so cute, but I need food. It's a pork roast with all the vegetables and a strawberry icecream for after and pot of tea, I enjoy very much I eat it all, I lay on the bed a drift off to sleep.
Doctor comes in to my room wakes me, doctor 'laycee you can go home at half two everything is great.' That's great news can't wait to be in my bed. Doctor 'I will let you rest.' I fall back off and the others come back to the room, they stay quite so I can rest but within few minutes I wake. I have news doctor has been and he said I can go home at half two so am going to get ready get things in to my bag and little miss ready.
It's almost half two the doctor calls back 'here is your reliese papers you can go home and enjoy baby. Me and Matthew ' thank you doctor.' Everyone helps Matthew gets baby Ava, I have the balloons we walk out the hospital I feel like I have notched it up and now am a mother to a beautiful baby girl. We get in the cars we a drive to our house, as we pull up we notice banners on the windows and doors. Who's done this then my brothers and jack come from inside. I can't believe harley is home his leave was not due for another few days. We settle inside our brothers bring the tea and cake in, Ava in her crib due a feed soon, I feel loved and glad my family is around me and I have this sexy soon to be hubby by my side till the end.
