Chapter 5

Luke had asked Marc to go on John's first patrol. He knew that he would probably recognize him as the wolf that had been spending the night with him, and he was terrified of his reaction.

What a stupid coward!!! His wolf complained in an annoyed tone.

He kept doing his job, patrolling the area that was far away from Marc's and John's. The wolves that were with him had little experience which renewed his concentration on the task at hand. Kris, Emily's friend was on his team and he had to admit that the girl could take the work seriously. She was looking around, sniffing the air for some unusual presence.

As the night progressed, Luke started to feel impatient. He couldn't understand why, but his wolf kept turning to look at the right side of the forest each five minutes.

The warriors that were with him didn't notice the change, except from Kris. She followed his stare and asked him if everything was OK, mind linking him.

He told her that everything was fine but his behavior didn't change.
He sensed that Marc was trying to communicate, so he opened his mind to hear his friend.

"John is running your way, Luke. Somehow he smelled you and knows that you are near and I couldn't stop him. I need to stay with Jake and Mike because this two are troublemakers."

"Don't worry! I will deal with him."

The tone he used was confident, but his heart felt otherwise.

Trying to think about some way to get his group a bit far, he mind linked them, commanding the wolves to go deeper into the forest. He told Kris that he would find them later.

He heard them disappear and minutes later, he heard someone approach. It was John for the way his wolf was reacting.

He had seen John's wolf before but not even that kept him from wanting to see it again.

When John completed his eighteen years he wasn't expecting for the forest to change so drastically. His wolf detected the most delicious scent he had ever smelled during his life right away. Worry filled his heart. If his mate was in the forest, that was no place for her, it wasn't safe. He needed to go to her and protect her from the dangers that roamed the wild vegetation by night. He didn't gave a shit for what Marc was saying. The male was yelling for him, telling him to come back. His wolf shut down completely, only focusing on the scent that was apparently coming from the other side of the territory.

He ran with all his strength, pushing his paws to the limits.

He decided to cross the pack since it was the fastest way to reach his mate. It was deserted and he thanked silently for that. He probably would be seen as a wolf that had gone crazy. When he crossed the line of trees, he was expecting to see a beautiful girl completely lost, so when he saw the grey wolf that had being sleeping by his side the past nights, he flipped. The first thing he thought was that the beast had devoured his mate, so he jumped at him without thinking.

Then, when their bodies met, the most strange and pleasant shock rolled down his body. He was confused for some seconds, but his wolf detected what was happening before his human part.

Mate!!!
His beast yelled and he stopped himself from biting the male that was currently laying under him.

What the hell!!!! John thought, his head spinning at a crazy velocity.
How could that be? A male as his mate?!?! And who was the guy??

His wolf seemed unfazed by the fact that his mate was a male and not a female and that, actually shocked him more than anything else.

Luke hadn't expected for John to attack him, but when that happened, he let the male hit him. He deserved that, since he had known that John was his mate and he had visited him playing the role of a random lost wolf.
