The drive to the airport was melancholy and bittersweet. I had asked Elyse to take me. She was able to turn around any sadness that I was feeling, and right now I was hopelessly upset.
The ride was slow and painful as I try to control my emotions and stop the tears that were filling my eyes.
"I hate goodbyes." I blurted out shaking my head while my eye focus was to the floor.
"I know," Elyse whispered sympathetically while we walk into the parking lot. "How did Harry take it?"
I sniffled turning my head to the window and looking out, ignoring the question. Elyse thankfully got the hint and dropped the topic completely.
Finally making it to the airport, Elyse drove up and down the parking lot in an attempt to find a spot. Once she did, she put the car in park and smiled over at me.
"Hey you okay?" Elyse asked, looking over at me and playfully pushing my shoulder.
I blinked slowly allowing the tears to fall.
"I-I'm going to miss you so much. I'm going to miss home." I stammered out while choking on my sobs.
She leaned forward pulling me into a hug, my face buried into her neck as I continue unwillingly to cry.
"I'm going to miss you too. Holmes Chapel won't be the same without you." Her voice was slightly shaky as she spoke.
"Come on," she then said pulling away and wiping her eyes, "Your flight leaves soon." She reminded me as we both got out of the car and pulled out the bags.
"That's everything." I stated closing the trunk and putting my backpack around my shoulders.
"I'm just going to miss you sis." I sighed feeling my lower lip begin to tremble and playfully punch her shoulders.
"I'll miss you too sis!" She cheered.
A few tears escape only to be swiped away by her thumbs.
"Em don't cry..." she whispered. I silently begin to sob as she wraps her arms around me, squeezing me tightly.
"Come visit me soon." I told her finally controlling my emotions.
"Of course." She scoffed, "It's New York City...you're practically living the dream."
"I'll see you later," I smirked as I pulled onto my suitcase and walked toward the airport entrance.
"Make good decisions!" She called after me, "I love you!"
"Love you too!" I shouted back waving my hand.
After being held up at security for what seemed like forever, I finally made it through and arrived at the terminal. Once I found one of the last empty seats, I sat down, wanting to get settled before takeoff.
My phone began buzzing in my pocket and I took it out quickly. A small part of me hoped it was Harry.
Disappointed, I answer it.
"Hi mum," I sighed
"Emily! I'm so happy to hear your voice." She cheered.
"I left only an hour ago," I reminded her, chuckling.
"I know, I know," my mother took a deep breath, "Everything at the airport went smoothly, yes?" She asked.
"Yeah, I just got through security." I informed her, nodding my head.
