"Melissa! Hurry up if you wanna get a ride from Connor!" I looked up at my alarm clock that I hadn't bothered to set last night and plopped my face deep into my pillow. The last thing I wanted to do was get out of bed. "Melissa!" I sighed. What a perfect way to start the day. I yelled back to my mother,"I'll be down in a sec!" I flopped myself outta bed and went over to my closet. I put on a pair of faded ripped jeans, a black tank top, and my favorite long sleeve plaid shirt. I ran into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I was an average looking girl. I had dark brown hair that went a little past my shoulders, my skin was as pale as ever, and my eyes were the same hazel-green color as always. My mom yelled again from downstairs, "Breakfast! 5 minutes!" I yelled back at my impatient mother,"Coming!" I quickly pulled my hair up into a ponytail and brushed my teeth. When I came outta the bathroom I grabbed my socks and shoes along with the charm bracelet on my nightstand and ran down the stairs. "Look who decided to finally show up to their first day to school!", my mom teased as she handed me a plate of French toast and a cup of orange juice. I sat at the marble island in the kitchen and ate my food while putting on my socks and shoes. I replied,"It's not my first day mom. It's my first day BACK I'll be fine." I gave her a quick chuckle and got the same in return. She just smiles at me as I shove another piece of French toast into my mouth. Suddenly we hear a car horn outside. I muffled with my mouth full,"Connor's here! Gotta go!" I got up and ran towards the door, picking my bag off the floor as I do. "Bye sweetie! I love you!" "Love you too! Gotta go! Bye!", I called back to her and closed the door. I ran up to Connor's newly red Ferrari and hopped in after throwing my bag in the back seat. Connor's been one of my best friends since the third grade. Granted: he was gay but that had nothing to do with it. Me and him had always been close. Especially since his dad died three years ago, he was an absolute mess. I helped him get through it and since then we've hung out on a daily basis. He looked over at me,"Forgetting something?" I rolled my eyes and clicked my seatbelt closed. He smiled and revved up his newly painted car. "What's with the red? I thought you liked the blue?", I asked. He just smiled and said,"I was getting sick of the blue. And besides, how are any hot guys gonna notice me this year unless I have a totally bad-ass car?" We both laughed at his answer and continued to drive. It wasn't long before we had reached the school parking lot thanks to his speeding after a couple minutes and Connor carefully parked his car in our usual spot. I grabbed my bag and got out of the red death trap. We started walking up to the gate entrance to the school. Suddenly we hear a high pitched squeak and we both direct our attention towards it. It's Penny. She's been away at some know it all fashion camp all summer. Me and Connor weren't expecting her back this week. We ran up to her and gave her a big hug. "Ohmygod! I thought you still had a week left of that camp place!" She squeaks,"I know but I came back early as a surprise! Surprise!" Me and Connor gave her another hug and we all began walking into the gate. Once we got to the tables inside the cafeteria, we all sat down at our usual booth and pulled out our schedules. "Dang it! Melissaaa! We don't have any classes together this year!", Connor whines. Penny chuckes at his whining and asked,"We all signed up for culinary right?" I looked down at my schedule. "Yeah but they said all the classes were full so they gave me my second choice: Art." Penny smiled at me,"So I guess that means you'll be drawing my designs with me right?", she nudged my arm with hers and raised her eyebrows twice. I couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah yeah. I'll see what I can do." She clapped her hands lightly and cheered. Connor just laughed and looked back at our schedules. Well at least I had a class with Penny. After checking out our schedules the bell rang and we all headed to our first hours. It was tight and pushy in the hallways like always but I managed to get into my class before the late bell rang. I took my old seat in the back as the teacher spoke,"Ok class. Remember. Whoever you sit with today will be your partner for the rest of the year so choose wisely!" I shrunk down in my chair until my wish was fulfilled and everyone was paired up except for me. I like working alone. It helped me concentrate on getting done earlier than the rest of the class. The teacher began blabbing on for the rest of the hour. The bell finally rang and I grabbed all my stuff and shoved it in my bag. When I got out into the mess this school calls a hallway, I stopped dead in my tracks. There was some new guy... Just walking down the hallway. It wasn't really the new guy that caught my attention. It was the fact that everyone in the hallway was moving to make space for him to walk. What the hell? This guy just walks into school and suddenly he's the most important person? What's worse was that he was coming from the direction I'm supposed to be going. If I'm gonna get to class I'd have to get through him. The people in the hallway were only making enough space for one person to make their way down the hall. I'd have to go like right through the new guy if I wanted to get to history on time. I rolled my eyes and started walking down the hallway opening of people. Who the heck was this guy? Was he famous or something and I just didn't notice? I doubted it. If he was, I'm sure people would be lining up for his autograph. I ignored the commotion and, suddenly, my arm got rammed into, causing me to fall right onto my poor butt. The contents of my bag went everywhere. It was the new guy. "What the hell!? Didn't you see me walking here?" I rubbed my aching lower back. "I'm so sorry! I thought you would move out of the way." I looked up at him harshly,"Why would I?", I asked as I grimaced and rubbed my head. This guy was giving me a headache. He reached a hand down but I didn't take it. Instead, I gathered the contents of my bag back into my bag then got up. I slammed my bag into his shoulder on accident as I made my way past him but it kinda looked like I did it on purpose. I neglected to say I'm sorry and headed quickly to history, hoping I wasn't late already. My head still hurt like a weight was pushing into my head. It stopped once I got into my history class, almost automatically.
