After I hop in, Connor starts driving down my street but stops suddenly making the car let out a loud screech.
"Connor what the hell!?", I shout while looking at him. He looks at me then glances down to my waist. Ugh. Really?
"Seriously? Fine. There. Happy?", I ask, as I buckle myself in my seatbelt.
"Sheesh. Sorry if I don't wanna kill you. People drive crazy around here." He rolls his eyes then starts driving. I roll mine and face the opposite way from him. I feel the cool night air blowing in my face. I sigh. I wish I could tell him about Andrew but I can't find the right words. It's been like two minutes. I look at Connor. Connor does the same and looks over at me and starts talking.
"So what are you gonna do about the whole fainting thing? Stay away from Andrew?" Ha wow. Can't believe he asked that. Especially after I just kissed and accepted to going out with Andrew. He glances at me with a sort of worried look then looks back at the road to turn.
"Um. Yeah. I don't know."
"You don't know?", he sighs.
"Well, what are you gonna do if you faint and your mom sends you to a crazy hospital or something?" I look over at him and he glances back at me before returning his eyes to the road again.
"Well, actually, my mom said if it does happen again, she wants me to go... live with my dad." His eyes grow wide.
"What!? Is she crazy!? You can't leave!" I chuckle at his response then sigh. I have to make him understand.
"Okay.", I start, "Connor. I need you to make me a promise." He looks over at me with a confused expression on his face.
"Can Penny know about this promise? Cause if not, I don't think-"
"Yes. Connor, she can. I'm gonna have her promise the same thing." He sighs.
"Okay. What is it?" I shift in my seat so that I'm somewhat facing him more.
"The next time I faint.. I need you to NOT take me to a hospital -"
"Melissa I-"
"Just... Let me finish." I give him a serious look so he can see I'm being 100% serious about this with him. He sighs and nods his head, gesturing for me to continue. "When I faint again... I need you to not call the police, or an ambulance, or even my parents. Nobody." He glances at me and I can see that we just turned onto Penny's street.
He sighs, "Okay. But why?" I sigh in relief. Okay. I can be safe around Connor.
"Because... My mom said if it happens again that I'm going with my dad and we BOTH don't want that." He turns the car off and takes the key out in front of Penny's house.
"Okay. But if you die and I'M the one who goes to prison for, like, manslaughter or something, I WILL resurrect you just so you can stay to bust me out. I can NOT rock that look. And ew. Prison food!? Nuh-uh. No way. Not to mention all the prison guys. Totally not boyfriend material."
Me and him start busting out laughing at what he said then suddenly somebody hits the window.
"Boo!"
Connor and I let out a little scream at the same time. I look over and it's Penny. We get out the car and Penny is holding her stomach and laughing.
"Very funny Penny."
She lets go of her stomach, still kind of laughing, "You should have seen the look on your faces!" Connor folds his arms.
"Penny! You could have dented the car!", Connor whines. Me and Penny chuckle then she dusts herself off.
"I don't think I'm that strong." I straighten myself up.
"Okay guys.. Major news. We really need to talk." Connor looks at me, probably questioning if this is about the promise. I shake my head and he gets a confused look on his face.
Penny breaks our awkward silence, "Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's get inside."
