When I woke up, I got ready and headed downstairs. My mom was in the kitchen making breakfast. I could also smell that amazing tea she gave me yesterday. I felt a wave of both relief, hunger, and thirst wash over me. I sat down at the kitchen island and she handed me a plate and a tall mug. Today's breakfast was a couple strips of bacon, scrambled eggs (my favorite), and then two pancakes on the other half of the plate paired with the mug of amazing tea she makes.
We talked as I ate and she cleaned the kitchen up a bit. She asked how I was feeling, about school, and if I had made any new friends. My mind immediately thought about Andrew but I stop to focus on the task at hand. I was going to remove him from my life and gain Penny's trust back. Soon after I finished my plate and my mom started clearing the dishes, Connor's car horn beeped twice.
"Have a good day! I love you!", my mom yelled as I ran out the door.
"Love you too!", I turned my head to yell back.
I hopped into Connor's car and put my bag in the back seat. He turned and gave me a look that I knew meant to belt up. I rolled my eyes, chuckled, and buckled my seatbelt.
