Yoongi groaned and rolled over. Usually he was a heavy sleeper; it was hard to wake him. The problem was that someone was throwing something at his window and they had been doing that for what felt like hours. Of course, it was only a few minutes in reality, but late at night when he wanted to sleep, it felt like much longer.
Another knock. He sighed and rolled out of bed. He fell onto the floor, instantly waking up. Yoongi pulled himself up and walked over to the window. He opened the window and something hit his chest. Yoongi looked at the ground and picked up the white object that hit his chest. It was a rock wrapped in paper towels. He raised an eyebrow, looking outside.
"Damn, I should have guessed," he muttered. [Name] stared up at him from the ground. He held up the paper towel-wrapped rock and stared at her. Instead of answering, [Name] waved for him to come outside. Yoongi sighed and did as he was told, pulling on a warm hoodie before stepping outside.
"So what brings you to my house at one in the morning throwing towel-covered rocks at my window?" he asked. [Name] laughed.
"Well the rocks are because I didn't want to break your window so..."
"And the whole one in the morning on a Saturday thing?" Yoongi found it hard to be mad at her for some reason. It was a ridiculous situation. He probably was so calm about it because he was still half asleep. How the hell was he so calm about the girl he liked knocking on his window at one in the morning? Who knew?
"I want to show you something!"
"Can't it wait until, say, oh, maybe when it's not one in the morning and dark outside?"
"Nope, come on!" [Name] grabbed his hand and dragged him away from his house. Yoongi didn't bother asking questions. He had no idea where she was taking him, aside from the fact that it was probably in the forest considering that's where she seemed to be headed.
A few minutes of walking through trees, their path only lit with the moon and stars, revealed a small clearing. A tiny stream was lit up to look like liquid silver under the moon in the middle of it all. Yoongi turned to [Name], confused. She smiled gently.
"Look up," she whispered. Yoongi did as he was told and his breath caught in his throat. Right above them was the full moon. The silver disk was hung in the middle of the dark sky, shining down on them. Small sparkles known as stars dotted the sky in their own beautifully intricate pattern. Different shades and colors spread across the midnight canvas. It was the first time Yoongi really noticed how many different colors the stars could be. Red, yellow, white, blue, and all the shades of those colors there could possibly be. In that moment the sky was the most beautiful piece of art ever created.
"It's beautiful," he breathed.
"That's not all. Look at the wind, Yoongi. Look at the trees, the air surrounding them, the air we breathe, look at the world, not just a part of it." He didn't exactly understand what she meant, but he tried to do what she told him to. He looked first towards the trees, observing every tiny movement the leaves made. Slowly, he made out the shapes of the wind. It was still invisible, yet he could see it dance. He watched it dance until the air itself flow around him. The seemingly monochromatic night exploded with colors before him. A soft gasp escaped his lips. He saw the world in a more beautiful way than he had ever seen. Yoongi wondered how many other people had seen something like this, nature in all its beauty. He wondered how [Name] had seen it for the first time. He wondered how she discovered the art of nature.
"How did you find this?" he asked, trying to understand.
"I looked, and then I saw," she answered vaguely. Yoongi nodded, although he didn't understand very well. They watched in silence, staring at the world in all its glory before them. But it wasn't silent at all, no. The leaves brushed against each other, whispering in a language only they could understand. Small night animals scurried around, the flap of wings would occasionally be heard. No, it wasn't silent. Not at all.
"You have beautiful eyes, [Name]," Yoongi said.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Exactly what I said. You see the world in an amazing way. Your eyes are beautiful. If only others saw things the way you did, maybe everyone would be happier."
"I doubt it, but thank you anyways. Sometimes seeing the world like this makes you cry, Yoongi. You don't want to see it like this all the time, believe me."
"Why?"
"Just believe me."
"Well it's still beautiful."
"Yes, yes it is."
They watched again. She's definitely interesting, Yoongi thought. He wondered how she had caught his attention and not anyone else's. Why did he get to see her beautiful eyes, and almost no one else did?
But what if someone else did see her eyes? What if someone else was taken out on a night like this? What if he was just one of those tiny stars in her eyes? One of many? He shook his head. Later. For the moment, he'd just enjoy the beauty of her eyes. Her amazing, beautiful eyes.
