Chapter 7:

Walking slowly through the living room and into the kitchen, I increasingly saw more blood stains. What was going on? In the kitchen it was the worst. Blood on the table and tons in the sink, my heart was racing, my mind cluttered, not knowing what I would find in the backyard. I, still walking slowly as I could to allow my mind to process, went into the backyard. That's where I saw it. I saw my world dwindle down into just this moment. I saw the worst thing I could've ever seen in my whole life. I hadn't seen car crashes this bad. I hadn't seen anything this bad. The blood in the backyard was five times worse than in the kitchen. It was my mom. Dead. I was at a loss for words. She was the one who nurtured me, the one who loved me for me, the one who, no matter what, was there for me. The scream was my mom. I just wished I could've said goodbye for the last time. I wished I could've hugged her or kissed her one last time. I wished I could've told her that I loved her for once more. My internal body collapsed on itself and in the backyard I sat on the dirty ground. I had moments of hatred, nervousness, and grief. It wasn't until twenty minutes after I found my mom that I called the police. My dad was on a business trip in Europe and he wouldn't be back for another six months. Within the time that the police took to get here I had already did some investigating myself. It looked like she had three stab wounds. One must've been done in the living room, one in the kitchen, and the final one in the backyard where the blood was the worst. Shortly after my investigation the police were knocking at the door. I opened the door.

"Hi ma'am" an officer said.

There was a whole team of officers until I realized it was the S.W.A.T team.

"Hi, come in" I motioned in the door.

"So, where is the blood?" the same officer asked.

"Well, it's all spread out. There's blood in the living room here, out in the kitchen, and outside in the backyard" I explained in the calmest voice I could.

It was hard to keep myself together considering that I had about ten minutes to collect myself and get my face to not be red anymore.

"Alright, do you know how long ago this might've happened?" another officer asked.

"About twenty to thirty minutes ago."

"OK, and the body is out in the backyard I am assuming?"

"Correct."

"OK, let's go there."

The whole S.W.A.T team and I walked outside to the backyard. In this whole tense moment, I for once felt a state of calmness and safety. It wasn't just the guns that made me feel safe, it was the Zen and state of mind I found myself in.

"We're going to have to investigate. If you could just step back inside the house for a little bit. Thanks." Officer John said.

Officer John was the leader of the team. He was nice and caring. I decided to make myself and the guys some lunch. There was actually one female member. Anyways, I made a whole bunch of tuna and made sandwiches. The team consisted of fifteen members so I made forty-five sandwiches to take in account of people who wanted extras. I also set out a variety of chips from Sunchips to just regular potato chips. After about an hour the team came back in.

"Alright, we've got some samples and we'll send them to the lab later" Officer John said.

"I made lunch for you all. You deserve it" I said, smiling.

They really did deserve it. They were willing to help figure this out. Of course they were, they were the S.W.A.T team!

"These look really good" another officer named Chad said.

Everyone got their sandwiches, drinks, and chips and some sat down in the kitchen after cleaning up the blood since they got all their evidence. Others sat in the living room and some were standing around in little groups, talking. I was in the kitchen standing by the counter eating my food. The only female officer came up to me. She smiled and said, "May I talk to in private, please?"

"Sure, we can go up to my room since there's a lot of people down here" I said.

"That's fine" she started walking towards the stairs. I followed her.

When we got up to my room we sat down and ate.

"My name is Allison by the way" she said.

At least I knew her name now so I wouldn't have to refer to her as "the female officer" anymore.

"I would like to ask some questions" Allison said.

"OK, sure" I agreed.

"First, do you have any idea of who might've done this? Were there any clues of violence at your school or in the neighborhood? Do you know of any enemies that your family had?"

"I have no idea who would've done this, I can't recall of any enemies my family had and yes there was two incidents of some violence towards me at school" I was telling the truth and only the truth.

"Can you explain the school violence further?"

"Sure. It was the second day of school and it was lunch time. I was sitting with my friends at the table and talking to them like any normal day. Then, a person ran into me and spilled their hot lunch all over me and ran away. As far as I know, the school hasn't figured out who did it yet. I went home early with my...mom, (I had a hard time saying mom), and we went out to eat. I had told my next door neighbor to call me after school. He did and said that he had a note in his locker addressing him and I. It said that the incident wouldn't be the last of the revenge." I stopped to allow Allison to take it in and come up with a response.

"OK, that helps a lot. We will have to come to your school tomorrow. It will just to be for investigation and safety. We really want to figure this out without it becoming such an elaborate story. Of course, this will probably become a headlined story on the news which will make it hard to remain unknown" she explained.

I knew it was best for them to come my school tomorrow. They wanted to figure it out as fast as possible. After the private talk, we went back downstairs. The team had finished, did the dishes, and was ready to go with their evidence. When they left, I had to mentally prepare myself for the conversations I would have at school tomorrow.
