Chapter 22:

The test had a green plus sign. I screamed. Toby and I conceived! I was so excited to tell him the news. I decided I would leave the test sitting on the vanity in the bathroom so that when he got a shower, he would see it. I decided I would leave and go to Kathryn's house. It was 5 minutes until Toby was going to be home. When I got to Kathryn's, she let me in.

"What's up?," she asked me.

"Toby's coming home and I took a pregnancy test today and I'm positive!," I said.

"Oh my gosh, congrats! So, you kept out the test so he sees it?"

"Yes!" I answered.

After fifteen minutes, I got in the car and headed home. I didn't want to wait too long. I unlocked the door and sneaked in. I gently closed the door. I tip-toed up the stairs. I rounded the corner and started to make my way into the bedroom. I saw him laying on the bed. I walked in.

"Hi," I pretended to be tired.

"Hi!," I saw him smile out of the corner of my eye.

"What's new? How was work?," I asked.

"Work was good. Let's talk about what's new!," Toby said. I could hear the excitement in his voice.

I turned and looked at him and smiled. "You saw?" I asked.

"Yes!" I saw tears well up in his eyes. He got up and ran towards me and hugged me. I laughed and he laughed. Then, he bent down to my stomach. He rubbed my stomach and said, "There's a baby in there." Then, he put his ear to my stomach and said, "I can't wait to see you, little buddy." I looked down at him and smiled. I chuckled. Toby got back up and pulled me close.

"I think we did it. I have a good feeling about this one" he told me.

I put my chin on his shoulder and looked out behind him. He rubbed my back. Finally, we did it.

7 months later:

The doctor had approved it. He said that we were for sure going to keep this baby. He said I would be able to have the baby through natural birth. I was so excited. Also, not to mention the best thing. It was a baby boy. Toby was ecstatic when the doctor said that. Every day, Toby would lean down to my stomach and kiss it. My stomach was huge now and I couldn't really go anywhere without having someone there with me. Toby quit his job because he was becoming a huge star on Youtube. The company was paying him to make videos. I was so proud of him. I was even more excited to see Toby with the baby. I must admit, my pregnancy wasn't that bad. I didn't have any morning sickness and my back only hurt a little bit.

2 months later:

3:30 a.m. March 5th, 2016. I awoke with strong contractions. I yelled and Toby woke up beside me. He hopped up.

"Is it happening?!," he was nervous, excited, and scared.

"Yes!" I said, grabbing the comforter in pain.

"Don't move, I'll grab the bags and help you to the car!" he was frantic.

Toby ran over to me and helped me up.

"Put your arm around me" Toby said.

I put my arm around me and we walked down the steps together. I bent down in pain as another contraction came. Toby ran over to me and helped me out the door. He opened the car door and helped me get in.

"Hurry up!" I said.

"I am, I am!" he said.

He put the key in the ignition and started driving. We took the highway and got to the hospital in 10 minutes. He helped me out of the car and into the emergency room.

"Hi, how may I help you?," the receptionist asked.

"My wife, she, wife, pregnant! My wife's water broke!" Toby said, stuttering through his words.

A nurse got me a wheelchair. I sat down and then Toby signed in. The doctors immediately took me to the birth room. Toby was following n a little over 5 hours of labor, the baby was born. The doctors called Toby in. He rushed in and smiled. I looked over at him and smiled.

"Healthy" I said.

"Good" he sat down next to me and nuzzled his head on the pillow with me. The baby was crying and we smiled at each other.

"Sure has some healthy lungs" the nurse said, smiling at us.

After the baby got all cleaned up and weighed, they handed me the baby. He was all wrapped up in a blue blanket. I touched his cheek and then let Toby hold him.

"My son" he whispered to him, just audible enough that I could hear him.

I watched Toby as he smiled like I had never seen before. I, once again, was proud. Toby was going to be a great dad. The doctors handed us the birth certificate and said that we had to name him. Toby and I looked at each other and smiled. We had picked one out that we both loved and agreed on.

"We name our amazing son......Peter John Turner" Toby kissed me and we looked at the doctors and smiled.

Peter John Turner.
