Chapter 25:

The funeral was last Saturday and it was a tough time. Toby went up to speak and almost broke down crying. He did cry and he was stuttering his words through his rigid breaths. Toby's brother and sister and his father spoke as well. I cried. I couldn't stay strong. After the funeral, everyone went home. Toby didn't want to do anything. So, we just watched a movie. PJ was at his babysitter's.

"Adoption," Toby said randomly.

"What?," I turned to him.

"We should give him up for adoption. We're having a hard time," he explained further.

I looked at him in disbelief. "Toby, it took us 5 tries to be able to have PJ. I'm not giving my goddamn baby up for adoption. We can get through this, we can do it babe," I got up and went over to him. "Get up," I said. Toby got up. "I know deep down that if we gave up Peter for adoption you would feel immediate guilt. You love him too much and I can see it in your eyes when you play with him. Now, stop the nonsense. What would your mom say?" I said.

I realized soon after that, I said the wrong thing. Toby looked at me, angry. I could see the fire blazing in his eyes.

"Don't. Bring. My mom into this" his voice, immensely acute.

"I'm sorry Toby! I didn't mean to say that" I said.

He didn't say anything after that, he just stood there and looked at me. He turned around and walked into the living room and to the front door. He stopped in front of the door for a moment, opened it, and left. I stood in the kitchen and then walked into the living room and picked up Peter. I got my bag, my keys, and left the house. I looked up and down the street and didn't see Toby anywhere. His car was still parked out front though. I figured I would drive around town and try to find Toby. I needed to run some errands anyway.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't see Toby anywhere while I was driving around. Where did he go? I called the babysitter and asked if she could maybe babysit for two or three hours while I looked for Toby. She was over in less than 5 minutes. I paid her, thanked her, and left. I walked around town and eventually I decided to go into this bar in town. I looked around in the bar and then I saw him. I could only tell it was him because of his hair. He was sitting in the way back of the bar in the last booth. I slowly walked towards the bathroom which was right beside the booth he was in. I walked past him and saw him out of the corner of my eye get up. He grabbed me by the arm. He spun me around, looked at me, and kissed me.

"I'm sorry," he apologized.

"No, it's fine. What I said was totally uncalled for, especially since the whole situation is still sensitive to you," I said, hugging him.

He hugged me tighter. "I just didn't want to fight in front of PJ," he explained.

"I know, I thought for a second you were going to blow up, but I knew you wouldn't" I said.

"I love you" Toby said.

I hugged him and kissed him again. Then, we held hands and walked out of the bar together. A girl stopped us.

"Are you Tobuscus?!" she exclaimed.

I looked at Toby and smiled. He looked back at me and said to the girl, "Heck yeah, I am!,"

"Can I get a picture with you?" she asked politely.

"Sure!" Toby said.

She handed the camera to the bar owner and motioned for me to come into the picture too.

"No, I don't want to intrude," I said.

"No, you're Toby's wife! I love you two and PJ is just the cutest!" she exclaimed.

"Well, alright" I said and joined in the picture.

The bar owner took the picture and then gave the camera back.

"Oh my gosh, thanks!" she squealed and gave Toby and I hugs.

Toby and I held hands again and said goodbye to her. Her name was Ashley. After we got a block away from the bar I said, "Wow, crazy!"

"Yeah! I see Tobuscus fans all of the time!" Toby said.

Toby was a YouTube personnel and he was getting paid to make videos. I was so proud of him. We got home and the babysitter had put PJ to bed.

"Thank you, sweetheart" I said.

"You're welcome! Glad to help!" she said and then she looked at Toby and nodded.

She left and Toby and I went into the kitchen and got some food. Then we went back into the living room and turned on the television.

"Ugh, why is there nothing ever on?" Toby complained.

"I don't know, it's Tuesday" I said, agreeing.

After thirty minutes of watching nothing interesting, Toby turned the TV off. He got up and walked over to the CD player. He turned on music and walked over to me. He held out his hand and I grabbed it. Toby pulled me in and put his hand around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and leaned in closer to him. I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. We danced around the living room and at 9 p.m., we turned off the CD player and went to bed. PJ was sleeping peacefully when we turned the light off.
