Chapter 10:

I had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks because the doctors wanted to make sure I didn't need any more surgery. Luckily, I didn't. Everyday, Toby would visit me. He would ask me how I was doing and give me a kiss on he forehead each time. After 13 days I was ready to go. Today was the last day, fortunately. Toby and his parents walked into the room.

"Hey, are you ready to go?" Toby asked.

"Yes, the nurse said she would be back to just have me sign some stuff and give me a bill, which of course I have no idea how I'll pay for it" I said.

"OK, we'll be waiting right here" Toby's mom said.

They all got chairs and sat down. It was Wednesday again. I had missed two weeks of school. So much for not missing school, that was a joke now. I would have so much work to make up. I would have to catch up to the class and learn everything I missed. It was all stuff I was willing to do. At least it would be better than sitting in a hospital bed all day and only getting up when you had to go to the bathroom. It wasn't long until the nurse came in.

"Hi, are you ready to go home?" the nurse asked.

"Yes, I definitely am" I said and laughed.

"You just have to sign some papers and we'll let you go."

"OK, that's fine with me."

I signed the papers as quickly as I could and then she handed me the bill. $126,002.07. Oh my gosh, how am I supposed to pay that, I'm just a kid! The nurse took out my IV and put a bandage where I got my surgery. She said the stitches would just disappear. I gave the papers to Toby's parents and then they all left so I could get dressed. I got dressed as quickly as I could as well. I wanted to get out of here. I, of course, was not going to go to school for the rest of the week because there wasn't really a need to. I might as well just miss Thursday and Friday. After I got dressed, Toby, his parents, and I left. The secretaries at the desks said goodbye and told me to get better. I smiled and said that I would. Toby put his arm around me and I snuggled closer next to him and put my arm around his waist. He was about 2-3 inches taller than I was, which was perfect.

"Julie got arrested last week" Toby told me.

"Good, she deserves it. Is she in Juvenile jail or actual jail?" I asked him. I really wanted her to be in actual jail.

"She's in actual jail. They said that murder and intentional man slaughter isn't something they take lightly. Also, she got charged for vandalism, endangering the safety of the students, for attempted man slaughter and murder" Toby said.

"That's great! I hope she rots in jail for what she did!" I smiled.

Toby didn't go to school either and we just stayed at his house when we got there. Toby's mom came up to Toby's room about five minutes later.

"I have something for you and Toby" his mom said.

"What is it?" Toby asked.

"Well, here. Open it" she handed an envelope to us.

Toby and I opened it together. It was two plane tickets to Europe.

"Thank you! What's this for?" I asked her.

"To see your father. I called him and he said he will be waiting for you at the airport. He knows everything that has happened and wanted to see you so he paid for the tickets and I picked them up yesterday" she explained to Toby and I.

"That is so sweet, thank you!" I got up slowly and hugged her.

She grabbed me gently by the shoulders and looked me in the eyes. My eyes met her gaze.
