Chapter 6:

I ended up getting really good sleep. I don't know if it was because I talked about the call with Toby or what, but I slept like a dog. Of course, it was another day of school when I woke up. Tuesday, the second day of school. I got up, got dressed, and went downstairs to eat breakfast. Then, I went back upstairs and brushed my teeth and packed my backpack. I heard Toby at the door and went downstairs and opened up the door myself. I realized that I never gave Toby his "Tobuscus" sweatshirt back. I left it in the kitchen yesterday so I got it and gave it to him.

"Oh, thanks! I totally forgot that I left my sweatshirt here. I was looking for it" he smiled.

"I meant to give it to you yesterday but it was hectic" I said.

"It's OK."

Just like we all did yesterday, Toby, my mom, and I walked outside to the car and went to school.

"Have a good second day of school!" My mom said.

"We will!" Toby and I both said.

Then Toby and I walked to my locker. When I opened it I noticed a note laying at the bottom of the old, dented locker. I opened it and read it. It said, "Find me in the halls. I'm obvious but I don't stand out. You're around me a lot in places you didn't know." It was a riddle. I had to figure this out by myself. Toby also read the note and said to look around for anything suspicious. That's what I was going to do. The first 5 periods went by really fast and before I knew it, it was lunch. Toby and I got lunch together and sat down at the table. The rest of girls sat down but Julie wasn't there.

"Where's Julie?" I asked them.

"I don't know. I saw her in my math class but I haven't seen her since" Kathryn said.

"When did you have math?" I asked Kathryn.

"Two periods ago."

"That's not too long ago. That's weird."

I was just about to ask a question when someone came up behind me and poured their whole lunch on me. It was so hot and everyone at my table got up and tried to figure out who it was. The girls ran to find who it was and Toby ran and got some napkins. Everyone in the lunch room was shocked. Some were looking, some were laughing, and some weren't even paying attention to what just happened. Toby came back and was helping clean me up.

"What the hell was that all about?!" Toby said furiously.

"I don't know, but it really frightening. I didn't know someone was just going to come up to me and spill their lunch on me."

I knew it was on purpose, the person was walking right up on me. I had to figure out who did it to save myself from this torture. After lunch, the principal called down everyone at our lunch table. Kathryn, Angie, Amanda, Toby and I.

"What happened?" the principal asked.

"Well, I was just sitting at lunch and this person walked right up on me and spilled their hot lunch on me and ran away. Kathryn, Amanda, and Angie went looking for the person who did it. Also, Julie wasn't at lunch today and usually she is. Toby got napkins and helped clean me off. Luckily, I had an extra pair of clothes in my locker that I could change into" I explained.

"Alright, well I'll keep an out for you kids" the principal said.

I guess the office called my mom because in five minutes she was at the school ready to take Toby and I home.

She came hurrying in, worried.

"Honey, are you OK? Are you hurt? Is Toby OK?" she was frantic.

"Yes, I'm fine. We're fine" I said in the calmest voice I could possibly use.

"OK, good."

She started talking to the secretary and the lady said that she could take me home but not Toby because she wasn't his guardian. So my mom told me to get the stuff I needed and that she was taking me home. I got my stuff, said goodbye to Toby, told him to call me after school and I left. My mom took me out to eat at Wendy's.

"I can't believe someone would do this to my sweetheart! What did you ever do?" my mom was enraged.

She had so many feelings coursing through her mind that it was hard to tell what she was going to say next. I'd never seen my mom so upset about something. It's not like I got killed or anything.

"Mom, I got a call yesterday" I had to confess now. She knew about this hatred towards me, there was no use hiding it from her.

"I know" she said.

How did she know?

"What, how did you know?!" I exclaimed.

"I was listening to your phone call yesterday. I know you might feel violated but you usually don't get calls right after school. It just wasn't normal. Also, when I looked at the phone while it was ringing I saw it was blocked. We also never get blocked calls" my mom knew a lot that I didn't know about.

I honestly didn't feel violated. That was sort of brilliant for my mom to do that.

"I didn't know you did that. I disconnected my phone so I couldn't get any more calls from that number" I said realizing that I would have to plug it back in so that Toby could call me.

"From now on, just tell me if something like that happens. Also, I don't want you to connect the phone back up. You can talk to people on the phone that's in either the living room or kitchen."

It didn't surprise that my mom wanted to hear each and every single call I was taking to ensure I was safe. It was just her mother instinct kicking in. After Wendy's, my mom and I went shopping at Bon-ton. The clothes I was wearing when I got "lunch dumped" were ruined.

"I never really liked that outfit anyways" my mom said.

"Wow, thanks for the love mom!" I said sarcastically.

"I was joking!" she laughed.

It was kind of nice not being at school for the rest of the day. Since it was only the second day of school I didn't miss much of anything. Before I knew it, it was 3 o' clock and I was home. Toby called me like I told him to.

"Hi Aurora!" he said. He had some worry in his voice.

"Hi Toby! How was the rest of school?" I asked.

"Good, they didn't find out who it was but this time there was a note in my locker. It was from the same person I think. They were saying that this wasn't the last time that this would happen."

"That's not good."

"Not at all. Do you think this person will try and sabotage the rest of the people at our lunch table?" he asked.

"I don't know. The person might be targeting just you and I. I don't see why they would have a problem with Kathryn, Amanda, and Angie. They didn't do anything."

"I don't know but are you coming to school tomorrow?"

"I think so" I hoped I would be. I didn't want to miss too much school, especially this early on.

"Okay, well I have to go. Talk to you later!" Toby said.

"Bye!" then we hung up.

I heard a scream. I went running downstairs and saw something I didn't think I would ever see.
