My dreams were filled with past memories; the night Bruce took me in, the night Rain and I stood on the porch and watched over Gotham city. More and more memories streaming through my mind. The memories flowed from soft to nightmarish. I wanted to wake up, I needed to wake up.
I heard the door on my concrete cell open and loudly close, causing me to be bolted awake. I sprung up out of bed and looked over to see two guards. I held out my hands and on of them strapped handcuffs on my wrists. One of them walked behind me and one stood in front and guided me out of my cell,
"Where am I going?" I asked the guard in front of me,
"You have an appointment." the older guard that stood in front of me said.
I nodded and looked over at the cell next to mine to see a woman with blonde hair smiling and waving at me from the barred window. The guards kept shoving me along, almost like they didn't want me to notice the lady in the window,
"Who was that?" I asked, looking back for one last glance before I rounded a corner
"Can't say, she's a crazy one though." The man shrugged and continued to guide me to the mysterious appointment.
The two guards lead me to a familiar wooden door that lead in to doctor Park's office. The guard opened the door and smoke poured out. Dr. Park looked at me and put out her lit cigarette and dropped it in the ashtray that layed on the table. The guards brought me in and sat me down on the couch,
"You can leave him in here with me, he's not dangerous." Doctor Park said to the guards and left the room, leaving me sitting on a couch chained together in a smoke filled room.
"So Warner, it's nice to have you back." She said, taking out an other cigarette and lighting it,
"Its nice to be back." I said a little sarcastically and looked around the room,
"You smoke?" She asked handing me a cigarette,
"No, I used to a few years back but not recently." I shrugged
"You should try it, you seemed really stressed." She said, still holding out the cigarette
"If i wanted to I couldn't." I held up my chained wrist and she stood up and walked over to me.
She put the cigarette in between my lips and then sparked her lighter. She lit the cigarette that was hanging out of my mouth and sat back down in her office chair.
I took in a small drag and blew the smoke out of my mouth, letting the cigarette drip off the the side of my mouth,
"What kind of therapist are you?" I joked with a small half smile,
"I've been working here for years, it drags me down. Anyway first question, how are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling like absolute garbage, I haven't eaten and I've barley sleept, I don't even know how long I've been in here."
"You've spent 3 days in Arkham, you still have a long time until you get out."
"How long do I have?" I asked, taking another drag,
"I'm not aloud to say, you'll get out when you get out. I know a little about why you are here, heard a few rumors; but what's the real story? I want you to tell me everything that happened, go back as far as you need to."
I nodded and stayed quite for a few seconds but then opened my mouth to say something,
"About a year ago, Batman saved my life. He took me in, gave me a place to stay and trained me to fight. He made me the next Robin but it didn't go well, a.. friend helped me become BlackBird. A few months ago, I was out; doing my thing as BlackBird, and I was attacked." I paused to take a a small puff of the cigarette,
"What happened then?" Dr. Park asked, standing up and taking the small amount of the cigarette that was left out of my mouth and dropping it in the ashtray,
"This girl attacked me, I didn't know who she was at first but I'll get to more about that. She attacked me and injected Scarecrow's fear toxin into my bloodstream. I started hallucinating and then I killed a few people. I met this girl face to face and we planned on robbing the bank of Gotham together. I called off the heist and then we 'broke up' and then i killed two more people. Batman found out, I asked him for help and then he threw me in here." I said, trying not to get too emotional,
"Who was this girl?"
"Her name was Kiara." I uttered, feeling a little bit of me shatter after saying her name.
"Did you have any other people you spent time with before all of this happened?" Park asked and i nodded,
"I had a girlfriend and a few other friends."
"What is your girlfriends name?"
"Her name is Rain, I don't know if she would still want to be with me, I wouldn't blame her if she didn't."
Doctor Park didn't do anything but nod,
"Can I write a few letters to a friend?" I asked, looking down at my feet.
"Of course, you won't have a lot of time to make a bunch of them, maybe only about two for now." She said and handed me a pencil and a few pieces of paper.
I nodded and started writing my first letter to Dick;
'Dick,
It's Warner, this place is crazy. I dont feel safe and i haven't eaten in a few days. Don't bother to write back, I won't be able to get to read your letter because the security here is tight as hell. They might think I'll make a shiv out of the paper and stab a guy with it. I hope you're doing okay.
-Warner.'I handed the piece of paper to Dr. Park and she folded it in half and put it in an envelope and sealed it shut. She had me write out an address and she handed me another piece of paper to make the second and final letter for the day,
'Rain,
I'm sorry for what I'm putting you through. You must be torn about finding out your boyfriend is an ex vigilante and is now thrown into an insane asylum. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you about me being BlackBird, I'm sorry I couldn't tell you that it was me who saved you from being mugged by those junkies all those months ago. I'm sorry. Don't bother to write back, I wouldn't be able to see it because the security is very tight here. I dont know why I'm in here but i'm sorry.
-Warner.'I let out a sigh and handed the paper to Park. She folded it, sealed it in an envelope and then had me write out an address. She put the two letters in her bag and flashed a small smile,
"I'll make sure to send these when I get off work. Before you leave I have to ask you one more question, would you ever killed again?" She asked.
Before I could answer, two guards busted in and yanked me up,
"To be completely honest," I said while being shoved through the door, "Killing bores me." I said with a small smirk before the guard closed the door.
The guards shoved me down the hall and soon ended up at my cell. They threw me in and took off the cuffs then left. I sat down on my bunk and started to think on how the hell i'm going to get out.
