The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as thunder clapped through the stormy night sky. The rain made the street silky and the lighting painted the sky. I dodged my way around police cars and trucks. I was really getting a hang of this thing, I've only rode once in my life and that was with my dad.
I've pushed all my family memories to the back of my brain. I couldn't think about what had happened, it was too much. I would rather suffer from two broken legs while tripping out on fear toxin than to dive down that train of thought.
Another thing I had pushed away was the thought of returning to Gotham. I didn't know if I wanted to do it anymore. I go back, but then what? I go back to living with Bruce? I finish up school and get my old friends back? Unlikely. Another option is living with Jason, but I don't know if he will take care of me anymore. His place is small, cramped, and it makes me anxious. I could start a life for myself, but I don't know any way to make money other than to steal and beg. Living on my own would be a bad idea.
I could stay in Blüdhaven, but there is nothing for me here. I could join up with Harley, if she hasn't gotten herself caught yet, and just go full baddie. That wasn't the best idea either. My brain was now clouded and I could feel myself starting to get stressed. I took a deep breath and started to speed up a little bit.
I kept pushing through the rain, the raindrops feeling like tiny knives dancing across my face. I was close to my destination, I could feel myself getting somewhat emotional. I finally arrived at my destination after a hour or so of a drive. I parked in front of a tall building that over looked over the raging, stormy waters. The buliding must have been at least 10-12 stories high. The lighting lit up the tall tower, only making it look more intimidating.
The entrance was barricaded by big metal barrels and concrete cinder blocks that were half the size of the barrels. The doors had thick iron bars on them, there was no way the front door was an option. Maybe the roof, I thought and looked up. My grappling hook would never reach that high, I could find a halfway point and climb in through a window, but that would be too risky. I tilted my head back and squinted my eyes, trying to get a better look at the building. A flash of lighting sudden appeared, giving light to the once dark night. Then I saw it, a row of gargoyles were sitting on the corner of the dark tall tower. It was perfect.
I grinned as I pulled out my grappling hook and took aim. I squeezed the trigger and my arm jolted back a slight from the hook shooting out. The hook soared through the sky and wrapped around the stone monster three times. A small clicking sound was heard, I let go of the trigger and my feet were lifted off the ground and my body flew through the air.
I was weightless for three seconds. I was at the end of my rope, with the same clicking noise. I swung to the side and kinda lifted myself up. I regained my balance and the rope shot back into the gun. Thunder boomed, I felt the vibration go through my body; it almost took my breath away. My body shook from the cold, my face felt numb and my nose felt like it was going to fall off my face.
I took aim again and squeezed the trigger, I shot up into the air and landed on top of the roof with a roll. The roof top itself was big. In the middle was a large dome like window that looked down into a room. I walked up to the window and peaked in. The room below was dark, I saw two figures in the shadows. I reached into my belt and fished out an explosive that could turn this window into dust. Dick taught me all about what kind of explosives to use at the correct time, I actually remember pretty much everything from that lesson.
I had no idea how much weight this window could hold, and I didnt want to test it out. I pressed my foot up against one panel and leaned forward to toss the bomb into the middle of the window. I pressed in a code and set a timer for 45 seconds. I hit the start button and threw the bomb. I backed away from the window and waited.
