The cold rain soaked into my shirt as I walked along the Gotham streets. I've never seen so many police cars all at once on the streets, looking for me and Harley and everyone else who probably escaped tonight. I walked to the location Kiara told me to meet her at.
I put my hands in my pockets and felt a small box. I grabbed the box and pulled out and looked down at the crumpled up cigarette box in my hand. I never said thanks to Dr. Park for helping me get out, she's probably already thrown into prison for what she did to help Harley and I get out. I put the crumpled up cigarettes back into my pocket and continued to walk to my destination.
--
I arrived at the destination Kiara told me to go to. I stood outside of a small rundown warehouse, the place looked like it was ready to collapse; I took a deep breath and walked inside. The door creaked open and i heard soft echoed talking coming from another room. I walked towards the talking, but I was stopped in my tracks when the lights flipped on.
I stopped walking and looked at Kiara and Harley standing at the end of the room. Harley smiled when she saw me and when Kiara saw me, her jaw seemed to drop to the floor. The last time I saw Kiara, we were on a roof; I called off a bank heist and told her never to talk to me again.
She walked up to me and wrapped her arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. I was surprised at first, I thought she would be mad like Rain was. Kiara seemed more happy to see me than my own girlfriend.
I didn't know what to do, should I hug her back, should I talk to her? I stood there, not sure what to do,
"I'm sorry." Kiara said, tightening the hug,
"What are you sorry for?" I asked
"Well while you two hug out whatever," Harley interrupted, "I'm going to go pack."
"Where are you going?" I asked, Kiara finally letting go of the hug.
"Blüdhaven, I need to get out of Gotham for a while. It would probably be best for you to get out while you can, Warner. Police are everywhere. Here have this," She said and handed me a silver lighter, "a little something to remember me by." Harley smiled and walked into another room.
I nodded and slipped the lighter into my pocket. I looked back at Kiara, who seemed to be studying my every move,
"So, what were you sorry about?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I'm sorry for the trouble I caused you. If didn't dose you with the fear toxin, you would have never gone to Arkham; you would have never killed." Kiara said, a tear rolling down her cheek.
"What's done is done. What's the real reason you wanted to meet?" I questioned
"I wanted to see you. I wanted to make sure you were okay. I'm honestly surprised you showed up because the last time we met didn't go so well. If you need a place to stay, there's always room here with me." Kiara mumbled, looking at the ground.
"Wait, you're living here?"
"For now. I haven't really found a good and safe place to call my own."
I didn't say anything but I nodded. The room fell silent, all that could be heard was Harley humming a tune from the other room. Kiara cleared her throat and stepped closer to me,
"I really did miss you Warner." Kiara admitted, placing a hand on my chest,
"I was only gone for like five days."
"It felt like years, I never thought I'd see you again." She murmured, looking up at me.
I let out a long sigh before I took a step away from her,
"I don't have time for this, if you have anything other to say other than 'I miss you' say it now because I need to leave."
Kiara didn't say or do anything other than look away. I looked over to see Harley packing up the rest of her things, it's good to know she'll be out of here; one less thing to worry about. I looked back at Kiara before walking to the door of the warehouse. I opened the door but was stopped when I felt something grab my hand,
"Please don't leave me again." Kiara said, her eyes watering.
"I'll be back.. later." I said and walked out the door.
I walked along the road, Kiara's words replaying in my head. I put my hand in my pocket and grabbed the crumpled box and took out a cigarette. I placed the cigarette in between my lips and grabbed the lighter Harley gave me. The small flame seemed to light up the street; I brought the lighter to the end of the cigarette and walked along the rainy streets of Gotham.
--
I arrived back at Jason's apartment, soaking wet because of the rain water. I put my hand on the brass door nob and opened the unlocked door.
I walked through the door and looked around the apartment room. I saw Jason sitting on the couch going through a few papers. I closed the door and he looked up and flashed a soft smile,
"Hey, where did you go?" He asked, standing up and reaching into his pocket,
"I went to go see a friend." I responded with a shrug
"This late?" He laughed, "anyway, here have this." He pulled his hand out of his pocket and handed me a silver key, "You're living here now and you'll need a way to get in when the doors' not unlocked."
"Thanks," I smiled and slipped the key into my pocket, "Where's Kayla?" I asked
"She's sleeping," Jason walked over to the kitchen and started digging through the cabinets, "Can you go wake her up? I'm kinda worried about her a little latley."
"Sure no problem." I nodded and was about to walk to Jason's room but was stopped when Jason whistled at me to get my attention,
"Take a snack." He flashed a small smirk and handed me a small pack of trail mix,
"Uhm, okay?" I whispered to myself and walked down the hall to Jason's room.
I opened the door and saw Kayla laying on the bed. The room was dark and kinda messy,
"Hey, get out of bed." I said and tossed the bag of trail mix at her.
I closed the door before she had anytime to react. I walked down the hall and sat down at the kitchen table in front of a bowl of fruit. I took an apple and took a bite out of it and looked through all the unopened messages I had on my phone.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Kayla walking down the hallway, It looked like she had something in her hand. I looked back at my phone but was hit in the shoulder with something,
"Ow," I said, realizing that Kayla threw the same bag of trail mix at me, "What the hell was that for?" I asked, picking up the package.
"You threw it at me first." She said and walked back down the hallway,
"Weird." I muttered and looked back at my phone, taking another bite of my apple.
About a half an hour passed pasted by when I saw Jason rushing to the window, dressed in his Red Hood gear,
"What's wrong?" I asked, sitting up on the couch
"Kayla left and i'm going to go look for her, I'll be back in a few," Jason opened the window and before he left he turned to me, "No parties." He said and left.
"I don't have enough friends for a party." I muttered to myself a layed back down on the couch.
I let out a long sigh and closed my eyes, all I wanted to do right now was sleep.
