I wake up in the morning to the sounds of voices outside my door. I feel a little dehydrated but I am surprised I am not hungover. I slowly creep over to the door to see if I can hear what is being said out in the hallway. It sounds like Tyler is talking to AnnMarie.
"She just came over and grabbed me out of nowhere. I didn't even have time to react. I was in shock. That's when Amy came out and saw us. I hadn't even seen her in over a year. Yeah, we went on a couple of dates but it wasn't anything serious. I love Amy, you know I do. I would never do anything to intentionally hurt her. I feel terrible. I feel like I let her down. I don't know what to do," Tyler says.
"You have to just talk to her," AnnMarie replies.
"I'm afraid of what she'll say," he mumbles.
"If she says anything it'll be better than last night."
"Yeah I guess you're right. We don't have time for this. You guys are leaving tomorrow. I'm going to go talk to her."
Oh shit. I gotta get back in bed and act like I'm sleeping. He can't know I was listening. I turn around to run back to the bed and my foot catches something on the floor and I go down. I land on the floor with a thud. I look down to see what I tripped on. It's my stupid shoe from last night. I can't believe I just left it in the middle of the floor like that. The door slowly opens and Tyler walks in. I'm caught. I cover my face in embarrassment.
"Are you ok?" he asks as he reaches down to help me up. I hold out my hand to take his and he pulls me up onto my feet. "What happened?"
"I tripped on my stupid shoe," I angrily say as I kick my shoe across the room.
"Are you talking to me now?" he asks with his head cocked to the side.
I sit down on the edge of the bed. "I might be," I reply with a hung head.
Tyler sits down next to me. He reluctantly puts his arm around me, I lean my head on his shoulder and he pulls me in close. "You know I love you more than anything. It all happened so fast. I honestly didn't have time to react before you came out and saw us. She means nothing to me. She never has. We don't have much time left to spend together and it would be a waste to spend it being mad. I'm sorry that you were hurt and nothing like that will ever happen again. I promise."
"Damn right it's not going to happen again. I am not letting you out of my sight," I say.
"So we're good?"
"I may have overreacted," I mumble.
He laughs. "Yeah just a little bit."
"I wish last night didn't go the way that it did. You were looking so good in that suit. I was totally gonna put out."
"Oh, I could go put the suit back on."
"Too late. The moment is gone." I look over to where my dress is lying on the floor. "What the fuck did I do last night? That dress is expensive!" I hop off of the bed and pick up my dress off of the floor and brush it off.
Tyler walks over to me and takes the dress from my hands and hangs it up on a hanger. He takes my hands in his and puts them around his back then puts his arms around me. I put my hands up his shirt so I can touch his skin. He smiles as he looks into my eyes. He leans down and rubs his nose along mine then rests his forehead on mine. I close my eyes and breathe a deep breath. His lips linger just inches from mine as I can feel each breath on my lips. "Your hands are cold."
I slap him on the butt and say, "you're an ass."
He smiles and kisses me. "Are you going to move your stuff back into my room?" he asks.
