Oahu

Oahu, Hawaii. It's the third largest islands of Hawaii and originally I was planning to stay somewhere smaller and remote but I fell in love with the Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku once someone told me about it so this is where I decided to stay. We can always venture off to the smaller islands if we need to so I'm not worried about getting unique shots. That's not what's important now, though. I promised Harold and Tyler and even myself that I would spend the first week here relaxing so that's what I plan to do. Waikiki and Honolulu are on this island so there are plenty of places to explore. I only hope I'll have enough time to see it all.

The Turtle Bay Resort sits on the end of a beach looking out into the ocean. The location is one of the main reasons I fell in love. Even though it is on such a big island, an island that is also very popular, it's still remote enough for my liking. I wanted a place that wasn't so touristy and it seems perfect. I just hope it lives up to my expectations. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this location. There are so many places in Hawaii to choose to stay and they all have amazing things to offer.

I have a spa day booked, which I think Harold is going to with me, he's unsure if he would be crossing a line. I keep telling him that it would just be a waste of my money if he didn't go. Everything on this trip is already paid for except the food and drinks we will be having. I've always wanted to go snorkeling so we are also going to snorkel and Harold is excited about doing that because he's never done it before either. We are also going to be going on a helicopter tour so we can see Oahu from above. I'm taking my camera with me and I don't care what Harold says. I did rent a private beach for a day but I don't think we're going to be going. That was for me and Tyler and there really isn't any point for me and Harold to be there. It's a shame, it would have been nice. We are going to be going to Sea Life park to swim with the dolphins and enjoy some of the other animals they have there. One of the last things we are going to do is go to Waimea Valley and swim under the waterfalls. It sounds like a lot to do but I wanted to do as many different things that I can before having to go back home.

I am so excited to get this adventure started but it makes me incredibly sad that Tyler isn't here to enjoy it with me. It's been a struggle trying to keep in touch with him while he's over in Prague but I did manage to talk to him before Harold and I left for the airport. Tyler is still upset with the idea of us going together and honestly I don't blame him for it but he did tell me all he wants is for me to have fun so that's what I plan to do. Tyler's games are going to be starting within the next few days and I'm excited for him. I really hope he does well. He is so proud to be over there representing our country.

Once we land Harold and I get our luggage from baggage claim and take a car service that I hired to the resort. I really did go all out on this trip. It's the first big trip I have ever planned and I'm pretty proud of myself because of how smoothly everything has gone. We get to the hotel to check in. I had called and asked if we could switch my reservation to a room with two beds a few days ago but they said I would have to ask when I checked in. I hope they have room but from what I have read this place is always booked up. We drag our suitcases up to the desk and wait on line.

We finally get up to the front desk and we are greeting by a bubbly hotel clerk. "Welcome to Turtle Bay Resort. Are you checking in?"

"Yes. I was told to ask when checking in if there are any available rooms with two bedrooms instead of the one bedroom I reserved," I say as I place my hands on the counter top.

The clerk looks at Harold and then at me before starting to type in the computer. I can only assume she thinks we're having relationship troubles. She looks up from her computer after looking at it for what seems like 5 minutes but I doubt it was that long. "No, I'm sorry, we are all booked up."
