I can't believe I almost left the house without my dad's birthday presents. Ok technically I did leave the house and get all the way down the block before I remembered I was empty handed but still. I had to turn around and come back for the jerseys. I got them framed so he could hang them up on the wall in his office. He has all sorts of hockey things hanging up in there. These jerseys would go perfectly, although the green of Tyler's jersey doesn't really go with the blue theme he has going in there. My dad won't care, though, he loves Tyler and is so proud of everything he's accomplished. I can't wait to see the look on his face when I give him the Leafs jersey. I went to my first Leafs game in a while the other day and Jonathan saw me and acted like we haven't seen each other in years. I don't know about him sometimes.
I pull up to my mom and dad's house, grab the wrapped frames from my passenger seat, and make my way inside. A lot of my family is already here, I might even be the last one to show up. The first people I see are my cousins Louis and Michael, they're twins. They're just 2 years older than me so we've always been close. "Amy, hey!" Louis exclaims as soon as I walk in the door. He walks over to me and gives me a hug. I haven't seen any of my extended family since I came back from Europe. Louis is the more vocal one out of the twins. Michael is very quiet and laid back and Louis is more like me, loud and outgoing. Michael walks over and hugs me as well.
"I missed you guys," I say, "where's everyone else?"
"In the basement. Your dad got this crazy big TV and he's showing it off to everyone," Louis explains.
"Good, we can watch Tyler's game on it tonight," I say as I make my way into the house. I set the frame down on the floor in my dad's office so they're out of the way.
"Oh that's right. You and Tyler are finally together. When do we hear wedding bells?" Louis says as he playfully elbows me in the side.
"Oh please," I reply as I roll my eyes, "I just got comfortable with the idea of moving in with him."
Louis and Michael follow me down to the basement. "You guys have known each other since the womb, you should have like 5 kids by now," Louis says.
"Are you trying to talk me out of it? Because you're doing a really good job of that," I reply. He laughs.
We make it down to the basement where my dad, aunts, uncles, my other cousins, and mom are. They're all gathered around this TV and my dad is excitedly talking about how you can "see the beads of sweat on the Leafs' faces on this thing."
"Look who I found upstairs," Louis announces as he walks over to the couch and sits down.
I walk over to my dad and hug him. "Happy birthday, daddy."
"Thanks, sunshine. Did you see the TV?" He asks as he points to the TV. I laugh at how proud of it he is.
"Yeah, it's awesome. Perfect for watching Tyler's game tonight."
"Of course we can watch him play. It'll be like he's right here in the room with us."
"He wanted me to tell you he wishes he could be here," I say as we start walking over to my mom, who is talking with my cousins.
"I know he does. I'll have to catch up with him in the off season."
"That's what I told him." My mom sees me and holds her arms out to hug me. "Hey, mom." I hug her. I look at my cousins Angela, Heather, and Julie. They're all younger than me. Angela by 2 years, Heather by 4 years, and Julie is the youngest by 8 years. "Hey girls."
"Hey, Amy," they all say at the same time. They live further away from us so I don't see them as much as Louis and Michael so we're not as close. I still love them to death, though.
