I don't have time for much in the morning. I have a quick breakfast of toast and cereal before Tyler has to drop me off at the airport. AnnMarie's flight is a few hours from mine but decides it would be best just to get dropped off at the same time so Tyler doesn't have to make two trips. We gather our things together and put them in the back of the Jeep. Harold is going to be bringing my things with him so I didn't have to worry about bringing them to Dallas. I hope he doesn't forget anything. I don't have proper meeting attire packed in my bag. I would be nervous if I wasn't so tired. I hate mornings and they don't like me very much.
I wish I had more time to spend with Tyler for his birthday but this is going to be the most important meeting I am ever going to have in my life. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. "Remember, have Harold do most of the talking. That is what he is there for," Tyler reminds me as we pull up to the terminal. That drive went way too quickly. I feel like we just got here and I already have to say goodbye.
"I wouldn't know what to say even if I were to speak," I reply.
"I am so proud of you. Call me when you get out," he says as he caresses my cheek.
"I will," I say as I lean into his hand. He leans in and kisses me softly. "Bye, Ty."
"Have safe flights, you two," Tyler says as we begin to shuffle out of the Jeep.
"Thanks, Tyler," AnnMarie says as she grabs her bag.
I grab my bag and sling the strap over my shoulder and walk over to the driver's side door. Tyler rolls his window down. "I love you," I say.
He sticks his head out and kisses my forehead I close my eyes briefly then open them. "I love you too, munchkin."
I walk across the front of the Jeep and into the terminal to check in. This is where AnnMarie and I have to part ways. "I'll see you back home," I say.
"When is your flight?" she asks.
"Tomorrow morning I think. I'm pretty sure Harold said we are staying the night," I reply. My brain isn't functioning right now. I know Harold told me my schedule but there's no way I can remember it right now.
"Ok, I will see you tomorrow then. Good luck."
"Thank you. Get home safe."
"You too."
I start walking towards my terminal and AnnMarie walks in the opposite direction towards hers. I check in and head to security check. I plan on carrying my bag on since it's just a duffle bag so I don't have to worry about checking any bags. I show my ID and get in line to get scanned. Some people would rather get a way too close for comfort pat down from TSA rather than get scanned. I'm fine with getting scanned. I don't want anyone's hands all over me other than Tyler's. I watch those people get their pat downs and I just think to myself are they really that lonely? That has to be the only explanation for you to want to get groped that way. I put my bag down on the conveyer belt and walk through the scanner. No red flags. I'm through. I pick up my bag at the end and walk to my gate. I sit down in the chairs at my gate and wait for my flight to be called.
"Flight 144 to Los Angeles International Airport now boarding," booms over the loudspeaker. That was fast. I feel like I just sat down.
Harold was able to get me a business class ticket. I hope he doesn't expect me to pay him extra for that. I would have been fine in coach. I get onto the plane and take a seat in my nice, leather chair. Ok, I take that back, I would not be fine in coach. This is perfect. I have never flown business class before. I've never even looked at the seats in business class. This is the only way I will be flying from now on. I'm fancy. The flight from Dallas to LAX is only a 3 hour plane ride so I won't be here long. I am set to land at 9am and my meeting isn't until 11:30 so there will be time for me to get showered in the hotel and changed into something more presentable than my sweatpants and shirt that I am wearing right now.
