Meninism: a semi-satirical men's rights movement. It's followers are known as meninists.
What they stand for:
-opposing the way men are victimised by modern day feminism and violence against men.
Why I don't like it:
-It's not a movement centered on providing help to disadvantaged, endangered or abused men and boys; it is a movement formed directly out of hatred for another movement (feminism) and that's not activism at all.
-If meninists cared about more than yelling "gotcha" at feminists, they would listen to men who have been abused, and they would stop using men who have been abused as tokens in their arguments; but they won't, because they only care about destroying feminism. And if they did care about male rights, they would be feminists😒😒😒
Meninism takes the hard work and seriousness away from feminism and makes it into a big joke. All of the blood, suffering and even death of hundreds and thousands of women who endured pain to achieve strength and liberation for all genders is treated as if the fight for equality doesn't matter.
You know what hurts the most, I see women joining this movement.Do you not know what Meninism stands for " The liberation of Men".... Men!! They do not care about whether or not you are free, unlike true feminism, they are not concerned about both genders. It gets worse, it's satirical. It's a mockery of feminism, of everything we have fought for, the wage gap, the destruction of the rape culture, education, an end to female genital mutilation, the right to practice safe sex, the right to run for political office.
Meninism is about destroying feminism by corrupting feminist language and turning it violent.
" We should have equal rights"
" So if you hit me, I can hit you?"
We mention feminism and the first thing you ask, is if you can hit a woman and get away with it? Is that sick or what?
I think besides the inherent violence that they not only encourage ( quote above) but make light of, I would say that it's their tireless efforts to delegitimize the feminist movement that pissed me off. They are just loyal in their efforts to silence and not believe us and that is so dangerous.
The biggest problem with this movement is that us feminists will have difficulty convincing men to be allies. We are already doing work to make sure that there is equality, we are working to protect them, to teach society to love them as they are,so why are they so reluctant in being labeled feminists?
They seek to change the conversation in an attempt to maintain power. These are the people who seek to actively derail the conversation so as to put men back at the center of discussion, when all we want to do is share the limelight. They seek not to actually help men, but to maintain an extant patriarchal status quo.
These are men who:
-Cite biological statistics to support unfair gender dynamics.
- who jump on statistics on how men are raped as a counterpoint to the number of women who are raped, not realising that rape culture itself is the problem.
- Asking if they can hit women, without realising that they are promoting violence and that domestic violence, for both genders is the issue!
- The choice to separate themselves from feminism reinforces gender roles, that we have worked so hard to destroy, because they don't feel comfortable in female spaces.
It does nothing to advance the rights men actually need. But look at this....
Feminism:
- It made the struggle for civil rights a reality. * The Montgomery Bus Boycott*
- It triggered the FBI to change the definition of Rape to include men.
- It helped male survivors of violence in the military pursue justice.
- It kept prisons safer for male inmates, by creating awareness about prison rape.
- It enabled men to spend more time with their children. * Paternity leave*
- It expanded the definition of hate crimes to include all identities * our beautiful LGBTQ society*
- It demanded that the media change its representation of men.
- It fought for men's rights to become nurses and teachers
- It encouraged people to rethink outdated masculinity standards.
- It is currently fighting for men to win custody battles, because women aren't always more nurturing.
- It doesn't want you to keep paying the bill at dinner. We want to be able to achieve financial success on par with men in any given field, so that you no longer have to feel like you have to coodle and provide for us.
- It doesn't want women to escape prosecution in legitimate domestic violence charges. The idea that we are all gentle and harmless is part of patriarchy.
- It doesn't want you to commit suicide. It doesn't want you to turn away from seeking help because illnesses like depression are characterised as an effeminate weakness.
- It doesn't want you to get drafted and die at war, while we stay at home and iron stuff.
The fact that you blame feminists - your allies- for things that they have been trying to dismantle for years suggests that supporting men isn't nearly as important to you as resenting feminists.
We care about your problems, could you try care about ours?
We hate patriarchy, we love men.
That right there, is why I'm Feminist As Fuck!😎
