Austin's POV
I dragged Alex to the start of the path, but he insisted that we should wait to see if anyone else came. We were looking at a distant roof top when two girls asked us if we were here for the haunted house. Alex jumped and when I turned around I was met by beautiful blue eyes. Her friend didn't look too happy about being here, but she looked stoked.
"Dibs on the girl with the blue eyes." I whispered to Alex.
Alex didn't respond, he was too busy making googly eyes with her friend. We introduced ourselves. Brittany seemed really cool and seeing her excited for the haunted house made me cheer up. We ended up becoming a group which I don't mind at all. Brittany and Hailey started walking down the trail first. I stayed back with Alex as we followed.
"So now are you excited?" I asked.
"No, but I'm a little happier now that there's girls involved." He said.
"That's the spirit!" I said as I slapped him on the back.
"Would you stop hitting me?" Alex said clearly irritated.
"You're such a bummer. I'm gonna catch up with Brittany since she is actually excited about this." I ran up next to Brittany.
Hailey went back and talked to Alex.
"So you seem pretty excited." I asked.
"Ugh, that is stupid Austin of course she's excited, she has a huge smile on her face." I thought to myself.
"Yah, I like the adrenaline rush. My sister isn't really excited about this though." She replied.
"Alex isn't either. It's nice to actually talk to someone who is pumped about this." I said.
"I know! Now I don't have to listen to complaints." She smiled.
We talked the whole way down and so was Alex and Hailey. After a couple minutes we approached the house. Brittany and I looked over at Hailey and Alex. They were so pale. Suddenly the door opened on its own slamming into the side of the house.
"See yah!" Alex yelled as he tried to run back up the path.
Hailey was right behind him. Brittany and I couldn't stop them they were to far ahead. We watched them run, but out of nowhere a gate surrounded the area enclosing us. I got to admit that was pretty weird. Hailey and Alex walked back.
"You guys saw that right?" Alex asked.
"Yah, I don't remember seeing a gate there when we came in. Do you?" I asked.
They all shook their heads.
"Well I guess there's only one way out then." I turned my head to the open door.
"Oh no, I'm not going in there." Alex and Hailey said simultaneously.
"Fine, then you can wait out here." Brittany said.
"I hope you know that there are some grave stones over there." I added.
Hailey and Alex looked at each other. They decided to come with us. I looked at Alex so I could walk with him, but Hailey and him had their elbows intertwined.
"Smooth." I thought to myself.
"Well it looks like we're partners now." I said.
Brittany looked back and saw them.
"I guess so." She said.
We walked in first and looked back to make sure that Hailey and Alex were following. They were right behind us. We were all inside now. With the door open, we could see what was inside. It was just a plane hallway with cracked walls. Nothing scary.
Suddenly a witch's cackle filled the room. It made us all jump. Brittany and I turned to look at Hailey and Alex who were already running for the door. The door slammed shut before they could make it out and we were in complete and utter darkness.
