Alex's POV
"What am I doing?" I thought to myself.
Brittany is in there and we just left her. I can't let that happen. I let go of Austin and sprinted back inside. Austin feel into the ground confused, but quickly understood and followed close behind me. The heat was overwhelmingly hot, but Austin and I continued. Flames touched the ceiling as we weaved through the burning house. Austin and I made it to the location where Brittany lay still. She no longer was a werewolf, but her normal self. The fire was closing in around her with a small gap that was rapidly disappearing. I looked around for a fire kit or something to stop the fire. Austin ran towards Brittany barely slipping through the gap.
"Austin!" I coughed.
I ran towards him, but the fire closed in on them and I was on the outside.
Austin's POV
Brittany is back to normal! When I saw the fire closing in around Brittany I knew there was no time to waste. I noticed an opening and took that as my opportunity. My face was burning as a sprinted through the gap, nearly catching myself on fire. I got down on my knees and cradled Brittany's head in my arms.
"Brittany." I whispered.
She lay there still with black on her face and her clothes torn.
"We'll make it out of here...I promise."
I squeezed her tightly and have her a kiss on her forehead. We were surrounded by a ring of fire and the smoke was making it harder and harder to breathe.
"Alex!" I coughed.
"Austin! Are you guys okay?"
"Yeah, but Brittany's still unconscious." I informed Alex.
"Is there any fire extinguisher?" I yelled.
"Uhhhhh... Yes!"
"Great!" I coughed.
"We'll be okay." I whispered to Brittany.
Hailey's POV
I had no clue what was going on, but when I saw Alex and Austin coming out of the building gasping for air and black smoke seeping through the cracks of the house I knew something was wrong. My heart raced as I realised Brittany was not accounted for. Was she still in the building? Alex and Austin answered my question as they ran back into the burning building. The group of kids were extremely quiet and wore a terrified expression. Alex told me to stay here, but Brittany has always been there for me when I needed her and I'm not just gonna stand here waiting when Brittany needs me most.
"Wait here." I told the group as I ran towards the building.
The heat was scorching hot and it was hard to see. My eyes dried up very quickly and it was getting hard to breathe. Each breath I took in was a mouth full of black smoke. I could faintly hear Austin and Alex yelling at each other so I used their voices to navigate through the massive flames. As I entered the area I saw Alex reaching for a fire extinguisher. I ran up to warn him that it would be extremely hot, but I was to late.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" Alex squeezed his hand in pain.
I came up to his side and asked if he was okay. He nodded his head, which either meant he's trying to be tough or that he's savoring his breaths.
"Where's Brittany and Austin?" I asked.
"They're trapped right over there." He said pointing slightly to the left."
I looked around for something to use besides the steaming hit extinguisher, but the only thing that was still salvageable was a thick wool blanket.
"What can I use?" I asked myself.
Then it hit me. I saw this on a Tv show before. They use a blanket to cover up the fire temporarily. If I'm right then this should give Austin and Brittany enough time to escape. I grabbed the blanket and dragged it over to the wall of fire.
"What are you..." Alex asked as I dragged the blanket past him.
"Austin!" I yelled.
"Hailey?" He sounded surprised.
"You only have a little bit of time, so get ready." I instructed.
"Oh... why didn't I think of that?" Alex said faintly.
"Okay I'm ready." Austin yelled.
I threw the blanket over the fire allowing a gap to open up. Austin jumped through with Brittany cradled in his arms. Seconds later the blanket burst into flames.
"Thanks." Austin smiled.
"Thank me later, let's get out of here."
Austin tried to run fast with Brittany in his arms, Alex and I followed close behind. Suddenly a blazing beam came crashing down nearly crushing Austin and my sister. Our path was blocked and the air was thick with smoke.
"We need to find another way!" I coughed.
"This way!" Alex yelled.
We ran through the path dodging falling beams and spreading flames. The exit was in our line of sight. It was a race against the closing flames to the exit. Alex and I made it out no problem, but Austin cut it real close. We distanced ourselves from the burning building, taking in the fresh air. We were practically crawling towards the group of kids. Austin set Brittany gently down in the tall grass. She didn't move.
"Is she breathing?" I asked, afraid to hear the answer.
Austin put his ear to her chest.
"Yes, but it's very slow."
"Well can't you do some CPR or whatever you call it?" I asked.
"I can try."
Alex came up to me and squeezed me tight.
"She'll be okay." He reassured.
I gave him a small smile. Austin began to do mouth to mouth and after, what seemed to be forever, we were able to see Brittany's blue eyes once again. She smiled.
"Brittany! You're alive!" I yelled as I rushed to her side.
Austin's POV
Brittany's beautiful blue eyes met mine as I finished reviving her. My eyes watered and I gave her a happy smile, She smiled back. Hailey and Alex came rushing to her side, relieved to see Brittany.
"Guys, give her some space." I said nicely.
"Right, sorry." Hailey said backing up.
I helped Brittany to her feet, since she was a little wobbly. Our faces were inches apart as she leaned in and gave me a sweet kiss.
"I had a feeling you would come back for me." She whispered.
"I would go to the ends of the earth for you." I told her.
Our lips embraced in a passionate kiss.
"Sorry to interrupt, but can we get the heck out of here?" Hailey said begging.
"Yeah." Alex agreed.
"Heck to the yeah." Brittany said in a high pitched voice.
